It's been a couple of weeks since Alexander started attending John's school. Over that short period of time, Alexander had grown really close to John and his friends. It felt sort of stupid, but Alexander was just head over heels for John at that point. They were inseparable, quick best friends. Life felt right with John around.
Alexander was wondering if he should tell John about his feelings, but the thought of John rejecting him was too painful. He panicked, wondering; What would he do? Would he leave me behind like my dad did? Like my brother? What the fuck would I do if that happens?! How would I even tell him?!
He tried to remain calm and wrote out his feelings and frustration in his binder. However, as he finished writing, Alexander suddenly remembered how the other day Lafayette and Herc bragged to him and John that they finally got girlfriends. Laf had said, "Yall know that girl Marie Adrienne Francoise de Noailles?"
Alex had snorted. "No one has the time to remember her name."
Laf glared. Herc looked at him and asked, "Adrienne was that girl you liked, right?"
Laf had proudly nodded and announced that he started going out with Adrienne. Alex remembered feeling really amazed at how Laf had the courage to confess to Adrienne and ask her out. He had asked him how he did it. Laf said, "I just went over to her and flirted a little. She really liked it, then I put my arm around her and told her why I liked her. She got super flustered and cute, so admitted that she liked me too. I asked her out and here we are. It wasn't that hard."

Herc ended up nodding and revealed something. "Yeah. It really isn't that hard. I should know cuz I just asked out Eliza Sanders too."

John smirked. "No way she'd be into a horse obsessed dork like you."
"Horses are cool, John! You just have shit taste! And yeah, she likes me! That's why she said yes to me, dumbass."
John and the boys laughed. Alexander ended up asking Herc how he asked out Sanders, but Herc gave him a similar response like Laf. Alexander decided that if he's gonna go through with the plan of confessing to John, then he should just tell John why he liked him and ask him out. He wasn't gonna try flirting- well, at least not on his best friend. But another thought came to him. Where would he even start?
