Chey's P.O.V.
Doors slammed all around me as we parked on the edge of a field, just distant enough from the city for us to have our fun. Well what we considered fun anyways.
We all lined up on the edge of the cut down crops, and glanced around, breathing in our surroundings. I looked up and down the pack members on both sides of me before I took off running. A few strides in I dove forward and shifted forms.
Now that I was wolf, I took off into the trees, my pack pulsing on either sides of me. It was nights like this when we were all glad for our gift. It made us even more unique than the average human, and not even a single one of us would trade it for the world, because I know I wouldn't ever dream of a life without my wolf form.
I let out a yip and a bark, signalling the pack to find any small game to make a nice pack picnic.
I took a sharp breath and located a bunch of jack rabbits ahead. Sending a mind message to the rest of the pack, I slowed my pace to barely a walk. I listened as Fey and Bryn circles around to start the circle tactic. The best way to hunt rabbits or anything stupid enough to ignore their instincts.
With all of the pack surrounding the poor rabbits, we advanced. We closed in on the rabbits carefully. They had no clue what was about to happen them even when we were basically on top of them.
We were all in position and the motorized meals, were still clueless. My patience running out, so I signalled the attack. Excitement rippled through us as we lunged forward, claiming our prizes. The odds were in our favour as everyone caught something. There were a few stray rabbits, but we let those ones go. We only needed enough for each of us to have a snack.
"Good catch," I yelped, panting with pleasure, in the heat of the night. I got yips and barks of happiness in return as everyone dug into their score. I could feel how my pack was much more at ease in wolf for then they ever were as a human. It wasn't just them though, I felt that way too.
As we lay together, grooming, footsteps echoed through the trees and worry filled my chest. I scanned the area for any sort of shelter and came up empty handed. I let out a whimper.
•Fey, Bryn, scout around. Stay out of site• I commanded them, keeping my head in the direction of the approaching noise, every muscle in my body stiff.
The rest of my pack positioned themselves around me in a protective manner. Niko pressed against my left flank and Lex on my right. If it weren't for them I swear my legs would have given out. Charlie and Riker were right behind me, teeth already slowly beginning to show. I mentally smiled at my too nerds.
•We're in no immediate danger•
One of the girls reported.
•Immediate danger?!? What do you mean?!• I growled back.
•Well, it's those guys. Luke and them•
My response came and I fainted at the thought of them knowing my packs' secret.
