Chapter 3- Training

Abbie woke up to screaming and squeals coming from her tent-mates, and Ashley apologizing to them. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. Steph, Angela, and Michele stood there with their shirts in hand, covering their chests and Ashley saying how he didn’t mean to walk in on them, but he was grinning.

“Yeah right,” Angela muttered, mock-rolling her eyes.

“Well, I just came here to pick up Abbie, so…” He trailed off and walked over to Abbie’s bunk. He picked her up and swung her over his shoulder as if she didn’t have a choice but to come with him.

“Just be careful with her!” Steph called after them. Ashley just waved the comment off.

“I’m awake, you know,” Abbie said, trying to look at his face.

“I know,” Ashley said, turning back to look at her. There was a mischievous sparkle in his eyes. “I just wanted to make sure you came. This is important to Andy.”

“Came for what? What’s important to Andy?”

            “You’ll see.”

“Don’t make me go all horsed out on you! I can become a two ton giant beast right now, you know.”

“I know, but you won’t do it.”

            “How do you know?”

“Man, you sure are talkative today,” Ashley chuckled entering a tent Abbie hadn’t seen before. It was red on the inside, though she couldn’t see much of it. Ashley set her down and she tried to get a better look around, but before her could, CC covered her eyes with a blindfold.

“Come on, guys! This isn’t funny!” Abbie said nervously as she felt herself be placed in a chair.

“We aren’t trying to be,” Jinxx said.

“Thank take off this blindfold!” She screamed, feeling her arms being strapped to the chair.

“But that would ruin the surprise,” Ashley said in her ear, making her jump.

“I don’t care if it ruins the surprise! Let me go!” She screamed, trying to free herself.

“I’d love to Abbie, but then we won’t be able to prepare you for training,” Andy said, making her calm down. “Now, come on guys. Is this anyway to treat her? I asked you to bring her here, not scare her.” She felt his hand touch her back protectively and she shivered. He untied the blindfold and Abbie saw her reflection in a large mirror.

“Better?” He asked, his soft voice kind and caring. She nodded. “Ok then! Ashley, let’s do this!” He exclaimed, turning her around.

“What?” Abbie asked nervously. She didn’t get a reply, but felt something cold on her head.

“Don’t worry,” Ashley whispered in her ear, “You’ll look great.” Abbie wasn’t so sure, but she kept quiet. After what seemed like hours, Ashley stood back and smiled at her. “Perfect,” He whispered, admiring his work.

“Not quite,” Andy said, rubbing his chin, “Bangs.” Ashley nodded and started to wet the front of Abbie’s hair with a spray bottle. She wished she could see what he was doing. He picked up a pair of shiny, silver scissors and combed her hair down in her face. It looked a lot darker than before. He began to chop away at her hair. Abbie closed her eyes and squeezed the arm of the chair, waiting for it to be over.
