Chapter 11- Love and Mistakes
The next morning, Abbie woke up to Jinxx staring at her. “Jinxx?” She questioned, looking straight into his desperate blue eyes.
“I looked around last night and I found Sammi, but she isn’t good. We need to go, now,” he whispered, his voice shaky and full of panic.
“Calm down. Unchain me, and we’ll go. Just be ready for hell,” she whispered calmly. He looked at her and took deep, uneven breaths. He slipped the chain off her and opened the door. It was still dark, which meant most of the guards were still sleeping.
“Hop on,” she whispered, motioning to her back.
“You sure?” he asked, glancing at her. She nodded and he stepped up to her back. She could tell he was nervous. His breathing became shallow and quick as he laid his sweaty palms across her back. He shakily pulled himself onto her back and took another deep breath.
“Hold on tight with your legs. Use my mane for support and balance, but your legs will do most of the work. Don’t worry about steering, I’ll take care of that,” she instructed quietly.
“Oh, don’t worry about the electrical shock. You can only feel it from the inside,” Jinxx informed her.
“How?”
“I don’t know. Some strange technology or something.”
“Well they did blow up a planet...”
“What?!?”
“Not important,” She said as she took off at a canter, racing through the halls to Sammi’s cell. She could hear footsteps coming towards them and kept a close ear out for danger. When they got there, Sammi sat up and smiled at them. Abbie didn’t understand. She looked fine to her, but people saw strange things when they were worried. She turned around and kicked at the cell door. Jinxx got off her back and helped her. After several minutes of picking and pushing, they managed to get Sammi out. She raised an eyebrow at Jinxx’s name spelled out on Abbie’s side.
“Battle scar?” Abbie told her as if she was asking a question. Jinxx grinned and pulled Sammi onto Abbie behind him. She wrapped her arms around his stomach tightly.
“I missed you,” she whispered in his ear.
“I missed you too,” he replied.
Abbie smiled, but she soon heard the footsteps approaching them again. “I’d hate to break up the love fest, but we gotta roll,” Abbie warned, taking off at a canter. Her hooves clattered against the floor.
“The more I think about it, the more I feel we should have brought some of the weapons,” Jinxx said, looking behind them.
“You think?” Abbie muttered, bowing her head as she charged through a badly locked door that wouldn’t be closing again anytime soon.
“You’d think they’d have better security,” Sammi whispered, looking around as they raced through the halls to find a way out.
“What time is it?” Abbie asked, looking around.
“About three in the morning,” Jinxx replied.
“That’s why,” Abbie explained, quickening her pace. She neared a fence and perked her ears, taking on the challenge. Her stride shortened and she quickened her pace.
