Nancy laid in her bed, staring up at her bare ceiling. There was nothing to do, nowhere to go, no one to see. She wondered what her sister was doing. Most likely running off or something of that sort. She thought to herself. She sat up and walked over to her vanity to brush out her hair in an attempt to look somewhat decent before she went to look for her sister.

Beside Auradella, Nancy always looked so plain, but there was nothing she could do about it. Her sister outshined everyone even if she didn't mean to. Auradella always seemed to be prettier, more charismatic, and more funny than the rest. Nobody in her family compared to her.

Nancy sighed and got up, opening the door to her room. It was better to get up than be caught up in silly, useless thoughts that no one would ever hear. Just herself.

She walked down the corridor to Della's room and stopped in front of her door. "Auradella? Are you there?" She said, knocking. After she got no reply, she knocked again. "Della? Della!!" She opened her door to find an empty room. Nancy shook her head. She knew that was the only place her sister would really be, besides stalking the hall, and she couldn't think of where else she could be in their house.

"Goodness, Della." She muttered under her breath. She quickly went back into her room to grab her blue cape, to match with her baby blue dress. After, she lifted up her skirts and went out the door. Della always talked about going into the town, and without Nancy monitoring her she knew that's where just must be. She could only hope her sister wasn't in any trouble yet.

Nancy roamed around the streets with her head up, careful not to bump into anyone but still keeping an eye out for her sister Auradella. Where on earth could she be? Nancy pondered to herself. She couldn't have gone too far without talking to someone. Her sister had always been talkative, the star of the show, all eyes on her at all times, and usually, if her charisma didn't save her in a situation, her sarcasm did. Suddenly, lost in thought, she bumped into a red-headed girl with sparkling blue eyes.

"Oh goodness, I'm so sorry!" She said frantically. "Are you alright?"

The girl stumbled as Nancy bumped into her. The girl knew it was her own fault. She had been looking the other direction at one of the storefronts on the street, admiring the beautiful hats that sat inside.

"Oh-!" She exclaimed, waving her hands frantically. "I'm so sorry I shouldn't hav-'' The girl stopped abruptly, peering up into Nancy's face. It was... beautiful. Long black hair framed golden skin that seemed to glow in the sunlight. "I- um- I-'' She mumbled, trying desperately to find her words. Unable to understand how she had managed to bump into the prettiest girl she had ever seen. "I'm- I'm ok." She managed to blurt out, but her tone was rather shaky.

Nancy looked at the girl, puzzled. She had obviously flustered her but how? Nancy was very concerned for her, as red had invaded the girl's cheeks. Perhaps she was just embarrassed? Or something more?

"I'm Nancy. Nancy May Lycanth." She said, deciding it was better to introduce herself first. Quickly, she added on, "Oh! Do you happen to think you've seen my sister? Her hair is a bit shorter than mine. She goes by Della. You must've stumbled into her by now as well." She chuckled.

The girl was certainly flustered, but she quickly remembered her manners. Taking a deep breath in, she stuck out her hand. "Mary-Anne Griffiths, pleasure to make your acquaintance." She spoke softly, but firm. Just like her father had taught her. Her brow knit at Nancy's question. Normally it would have been hard to picture someone's sibling, but she thought she would probably remember someone who looked similar to Nancy, but nothing came to mind.

"I'm afraid I haven't." She said apologetically. "But I'm free to help look for her if you'd like!" She offered.

"Yes! That would be lovely, Mary-Anne," She smiled. "It was nice to meet you, but I really should get going. Two sets of eyes are better than one!" Nancy curtsied and set off from the girl.

Mary-Anne seemed so curious, with a fire inside. Almost like her sister, but less dull. Nancy sighed. Why does every thought I have come back to Della? she thought. It was because she was worried about her, she knew, but there was nothing she could do to stop her from going off on her own.

Della always wanted to do what she wanted to do and that was that. Everyone always listened to Della.

Suddenly, Nancy snapped out of her thoughts when she noticed someone quite familiar. They had dark auburn hair and brilliant green eyes. Nancy didn't want to bother them, however, since they seemed to be about to talk to a young lady and a man, with two children bustling around them. They must be so happy together. Nancy smiled to herself. That's all she wanted for her and her sister, a sweet, happy ending. She just didn't know if it would come.
