Being 15 and a half while being a junior was not an easy thing. Especially when my best friend was really pissed off at me. In the time when I needed him the most, he wasn't talking to me.

just perfect.

To top it all off I was given the experience of a life time. And I say that in the most sarcastic way possible.

About three weeks into school we were given a project. You know the ones where you have a partner and the two of you actually have to pretend to like each other.

In Modern American, which is the class all juniors are forced to take, we were learning about the rise recording artists in the '90s. Which I was actually kind of excited about, I loved some of the good Indie music from the '90s. And Eric was in that class with me, so I figured why not pair up with someone I actually have stuff in common with, even if the things we had in common were illegal.

But that was when Ms. Goral told us that we had already been assigned partners. My heart sank and I knew what was about to happen, I was going to be partners with Andrew Pendergast, probably the grossest person in the whole school.

Ms. Goral started to read off the names and I sunk back into my seat, pulling out my headphones. The less I had to listen to Andrew talk the better.

"Eric and Myles, Katie and Bill, Andrew and Emily." At that point I sat up a little in my seat, I knew that if Andrew was in a different group then at least I had a chance of a good partner.

"Becky and Jesse, Olivia H. and Hannah, Thea and Sara, and Olivia W. and Marcus."

My jaw dropped and I heard a few snickers around the room. Everyone in that class had been present at the event on the last day of school. We all knew that I didn't get along with Marcus and this whole situation was a bad idea. Ms. Goral obviously was unaware and just smiled and set down her clipboard. "Get to work!"

I grumbled to myself as I stood up and moved out of my seat towards a very confused looking Marcus.

"Hi." I said awkwardly as I pulled at the sleeves of Jared's sweater. I still wore his clothes, even though we barely talked anymore.

"Hey." He said, looking up at me. I think he thought I was going to slap him again.

"So what band do you want to do?" I was trying with all my might to avoid talking about last year. He was too apparently because he just sat up and took his feet off the chair in front of him so that I could sit.

"I was thinking Maroon 5."

I shook my head and sat down. "They weren't a band until the 2000's."

"Like Ms. Goral is going to know that."

I rolled my eyes and pulled out the list of bands I had come up with. After we discussed about 10 opinions we finally came to a conclusion.

All around us I could feel eyes watching me. Not only because I had been within two words of beating the living shit out of him a year ago, but also because I was dating the most popular girl in our school. And I was wearing a guy's Baseball sweatshirt.

Over all it was all just a really good situation. I think Marcus sensed it too because when there was 10 minutes of the class he leaned forward and whispered.

"I don't know about you, but this is really fucking awkward for me. Can we just not work on this in class and do it at one of our houses?"

I knew that he wasn't hitting on me but I think I still showed it in my face because he looked back at me and sat up. "I'm sorry, never mind."
