Despite your very confident attitude around men and your sexy attire, you’d never actually been with a man that treated you right and made you feel good sexually. You’d never really been in any situation where you found yourself comfortable enough to let a man pleasure you. In some ways, that was more empowering than anything, knowing that none of the pestering men you knew had gotten any part of you.

Calum was very much different from all the men you worked with or knew in school. He never once tried to make a ‘sexual’ move on you. He flirted a lot, yes, but he never pushed past any barriers and touched you. He waited until you made the move, until you touched him first and gave him an okay. It was charming and admirable to know that if you were to turn him down, he wouldn’t throw a total bitch fit and break up with you.

But could he really break up with you if you weren’t his official girlfriend? That was something that bugged you immensely, the fact that he’d not yet asked you to be his girlfriend. You were way too mature to be worrying about a silly title, but at the same time you were worried. You were worried that Calum would never want to be serious with you in that way and that maybe all he wanted was sex.

You’d been on 12 dates so far and you were ready to bring it up. If he wasn’t going to ask you, then you were going to ask him. Simple as that. This date was more laid back than the other one’s you’d been on with Calum. High dollar restaurants and dress codes were actually something you enjoyed, but being in Calum’s apartment while he cooked was just as good. That was something you never felt with anyone else, comfortable. You’d taken it upon yourself to sit at his breakfast bar, watching him cook and pestering him with questions.

“How’s it going over there chef? All good?” You smirked.

“It’s almost finished, I promise.” He laughed, wiping is hands on the tea towel next to the stove top. “How was the last interview?” He looked or, waiting for your response.

“It was fine.” You shrugged. “But I’m not sure that any of these studios are what I want. They all feel so corporate and business like.”

“Well, find some independent companies to work at then?” He peered over his shoulder as you frowned deeply. He turned off the eye and moved the pan of stir fry.

“I’ve looked all over Sydney and none of the smaller places are hiring. And there super tight knit and really hard to get into most of the time anyways.” You pouted as Calum spooned out big helpings onto the plates you’d set out for him earlier.

“I’m going to say something and if sounds dumb, don’t let me know.” He put the pan back on the stove and leaned against the counter, looking right at you. “Start your own place.”

“What?” You blinked at Calum and he shrugged.

“Start your own business.” He repeated the words but you still didn’t understand. “You don’t like the corporate places and you want to work in a small business setting, so make your own small business setting. Be your own boss.”

“I’ve never thought of that.” Calum lifted both plates in his hands and smile over at you. “It’s not a bad idea at all Calum, honestly.”

“But?” You followed him into his living room, bottle of wine in your hand and two glasses in the other.

“I’m not sure how to go about that and the legality and the money.” You rambled. “But I really like the idea of being my own boss and I think I’m going to look into it. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, baby doll.” He winked, sitting down. “Come on; let’s start this movie before you pass out.”
