Chap 22 - " accompany him "
San flashed him a pointed look. "Yeonjun.. do you by any chance.. like Soobin?"
The singer froze.
It wasn't the first time he had thought about it, if he was honest. He had wondered and pondered, but whenever he got close to the answer, he would suddenly shut the thought down.
"Do you love him?"
For if he found the answer, he wasn't sure if he was going to be happy... or frightened.
So, he settled for answering, "I don't know."
It seemed like that was his usual answer to every question involving Soobin.

One night, a week later, Yeonjun received a surprise.
Soobin was home early.
He greeted the older at the door, allowing himself a small smile as he welcomed his husband home.
"How was work?" he asked, following Soobin throughout the house and into their bedroom.
The older man looked worse for wear; the dark circles under his eyes were apparent and Yeonjun could have sworn he was thinner. But, maybe that was because he hadn't really looked at his husband properly in days.
"Long," Soobin answered, as he tiredly undid his tie, his eyes lidded with fatigue. "The restaurant's expansion to Japan depends on the success of this partnership project, so it's all hands on deck."
Yeonjun felt a twinge of guilt at that. Soobin was holding up his end of the business deal from their marriage and he was exhausted because of it.
"I was supposed to stay longer to tonight, but Naeun made me go home."
The guilt was replaced by irritation and... maybe a little jealousy. He could even feel his right eye twitch.
But Soobin didn't notice. He was too busy unbuttoning his shirt. Each release of a button revealed more smooth, plae ski and Yeonjun couldn't keep his eyes off him.
Soobin hadn't touched him in so long, he was yearning for him. But.. it was his fault that Soobin couldn't even look at him now.
So he cleared his throat and turned away, instead. "Why don't you take a shower?" he said, keeping his voice steady. "I'll get dinner ready for you."
"Thank you."
Yeonjun nodded and proceeded to head out of the bedroom.
"Yeonjun."
That voice halted him in his tracks and caused his heartbeat to increase in pace. He turned around slowly.
"Yes?" he tried hard not to make his voice sound hopeful.
Soobin smiled, slightly. "Do you have plans for Friday night?"
Was Soobin asking him out on a date?
"No, I am not doing anything," he tried not to sound too eager, though he failed a bit.
"Then, do you..." Soobin cleared his throat. "I mean, you don't have to, you're absolutely not obligated to..."
Yeonjun's heart was pounding even more harshly against his rib cage now.
"... but there is a fundraising gala sponsored by our partners, and I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me?" the last words trailing off.
Yeonjun answered without hesitation. "Sure, yeah. That sounds uhmm.. great!" he beamed, light tint of pink making it's appearance on his cheeks.
His husband nodded. "Great." he stood up. "I'll go shower now."
Yeonjun nodded and waited until the bathroom door closed before doing a little happy dance.
It wasn't a date, but he got to spend time with Soobin. Sire, it was probably a business thing and a media opportunity for both the families as business partners, but at that moment he didn't care.
He was going to a party with Soobin!
