"Welcome to what we call The Shack aka our home. It might seem small on the outside but it's just a cover so it doesn't draw as much attention as a mansion would." Lucas explained.
"So you're telling me that this tiny, wooden shack is as big as a mansion inside? Haha funny."
he smirks.
"Oh, wait. You're serious?!"
"Just wait and see..."
We were approaching the wooden box that was probably two meters by three (about 6'5" x 9'5"). Lucas opened the door and said
"After you" then giggled.
I smiled back and walked inside.
"Whoa!" I was speechless. It wasn't as big as a mansion but it was definitely the size of a house.
"See? I wouldn't want to say "I told you so" but, I told you. Come... I'll give you a tour of the 'tiny wooden shack'. Haha." He said mockingly.
He then followed to show me around.
"Here, to the left the first thing you see is the living room and to your right is the kitchen. At the end of the hall is the bathroom."
"What's in here?" i said while pointing to a door next to the kitchen.
"You will see that tomorrow. Now we go up to the second floor. To your left is Alex's room and in front is Sky's room. On this other side is another bathroom and my room. In front of mine is the guest bedroom which is where you'll be staying. If you need anything just knock."
"Cool, thanks."
"Yeah, of course. Just make yourself at home and get settled. Alex is cooking dinner. Come down when you're ready."
"Okay."
I was tired. Maybe it was because of the dart or all the things that happened today but I was exhausted. Despite that, I unpacked my backpack, the one I had brought to the museum with just a few essentials in it. As I was organising my stuff I noticed my suitcase in a corner of the room. I decided to finish unpacking after dinner.
I went downstairs and sat at the kitchen counter when I saw Alex.
"Hey, Alex! Do you know how my suitcase got to my room?"
"Yeah. Lucas stopped by your hotel and brought it here."
"Oh ok. Well, umm... thanks i guess."
"Sure, no problem" said Lucas coming from the living room.
"Yo Alex. What are we eating tonight?" Asked Sky jogging down the stairs.
"I was thinking that since we were in Rome today I'd make pasta carbonara?"
"Sounds great" Lucas and Sky said unanimously.
"Come on Em, Alex likes to be alone when he's cooking." Lucas said as he gently grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the living room.
We sat down on the sofa and started talking.
"So... spill it."
"What?" Lucas asked confused
"You said that when we arrived you would tell me everything. So tell."
"Yes ma'am." He said joking.
"So... you have super powers and from what I understand it's that you can talk to animals but you should also be able to move plants and make them grow faster."
"What? How?!"
"Well, your powers are connected to the living and to the earth. Take me for example, I have super speed but I can also make other things move faster."
"Okay I think I'm getting it. Wait, what are Sky and Alex's powers?" I asked even more intrigued.
"Sky has the ability to focus. It may seem like a weird power but she has NEVER missed a shot in her life. This also makes her very agile in combat."
"What about Alex?"
"Alex can morph into any person or animal he wants. The thing is that he has to touch them first. he can also turn anything into something delicious... he's a really good cook."
"hahaha, that's so cool!" I exclaimed.
"Dinner is ready!" Shouted Alex from the kitchen.
"Let's go. Trust me, you will love Alex's cooking." Lucas said as we were walking towards the kitchen. We sat down at the dining table as Sky joined us. Then Alex came to the table with the carbonara and served us.
"This is really good!" I said with the delicious aftertaste in my mouth.
We finished eating and everyone was really pleased with the pasta. I stayed behind to help with the dishes and so did Sky.
"Hey Sky! I've been wondering this for a while now but I never found the right moment to say this..." I was saying as Sky cut me off.
"I'm sorry Emma but I don't like you that way." She said awkwardly.
"What?! No! That was NOT what I was going to ask. Hahaha. I wanted to know why you cut off Lucas when we were in the car. He was saying your name when you interrupted him."
"Ooooh. That..."
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me. It sounds personal."
"No, no. It's fine. My real name is Skylar.""Why wouldn't you want me to know that? Skylar is a beautiful name!"
"The thing is that everybody has always called me Sky, but my dad was the only one who called me Skylar. When people call me by my full name it reminds me of him and how he died."
"Oh... i'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bring up such a sad memory."
"don't worry about it, if i didn't want to tell you i wouldn't have. Plus, it's so great to have another girl around here. I have a feeling we're going to be really good friends."
"yeah, me too."
she continued to talk about how great it is to live in the shack and all the cool adventures they go on but i kept replaying those words she had spoken earlier: "it's so great to have another girl around here". Have another girl around here?! I'm not staying here! I have to get back to my family! I'm just here because some creeps are after me for some yet to be known reason! My school is probably looking for me right now! Wait... my school. Why hasn't anyone contacted me yet?
"hey sky...?"
