Catra's POV~
I could feel the colour drain from my face as I looked back into her eyes. I was breathing so quickly I thought I was going to hyperventilate soon. I'm guessing that she noticed I was starting to panic.
"Oh, I have a friend that's trans too!" She smiled, trying to reassure me that it was okay and that I was safe. I opened my mouth, and then closed it when I had nothing to say. That's when she hugged me. She didn't say she was going to, and I didn't even want a hug. But when her arms wrapped around me, I knew I needed it. I really needed that hug. I wrapped my arms around her, feeling safe, safer than I ever have. It was better than being in Scorpia's house after leaving my mom's for the last time. I was truly safe.
That's when it all came out, all the pain I felt over the years. I could feel my eyes watering up, she was taller than I was so my tears leaked onto her shirt from my cheeks. I wanted to stay in her room, in her arms, but I knew I shouldn't. I pulled away from her and ran back to my room. I couldn't look into her eyes after that. I was ashamed of what just happened. I closed my door and went to lay on my bed. As I layed down I heard a soft tapping on my door.
"Catra?" I couldn't see her, but I knew she walked in and she stopped right before the bed. I don't know what she was going to do, so unconsciously my tail wrapped itself around my torso with the end near my face.
"Can I sit?" she asked, I could hear her voice quivering. I nodded. She sat down, placing a hand on my back. I grew limp at her touch, I made an effort to turn around and she removed her hand. I sat up. I couldn't bring myself to look her in the face yet.
"I'm okay..." I whispered, I looked her in the eyes. Jeez, first day and she was already consoling me like I just had a bad break up. "I'm okay, I'm okay." I kept repeating it, I don't know if I was trying to convince her or myself. That's when her phone started to buzz. She quickly turned it off.
"I'm sorry about that, that was the alarm I set to remind me about class." She looked back up and locked eyes with me. Normal people would show pity, she didn't though. She looked, I don't even know how to describe it, but it wasn't pity.
"Do you want me to stay?"
"It's okay, go, you have classes and I need to clean myself up for mine. I'll be okay, go."
Adora's POV~
Finally, my classes for the day were over. I still couldn't believe I told Catra what that alarm was for. I should've stayed.
"Hey, bitch!" I heard Glimmer say from behind me.
"And here I thought you didn't swear anymore."
"Uh, and who told you that? Not important. What do you want for dinner you two?" Bow looked lost for about half a second until his face lit up with an idea.
"What about that new locally owned restaurant?"
"I'm okay with it," I added as Glimmer looked my way with excitement in her face.
"Awesome, do you want to meet there or back here?"
"Let's do it there, I want to unpack a little bit more."
"Okay, we'll see you there then. Try not to be late!" Bow said before they took off together.
I pulled out my earbuds and phone out of my backpack. My phone's clock read that it was 4:42pm. I left Catra at 11:50, when my alarm went off. I hit shuffle on Spotify for my liked songs, put in my earbuds and went to the library to pick up a few books I needed to satisfy Bow's constant stream of texts of books I need to read by the end of the month. Despite the fact that he said he doesn't want to take over his father's library, he still really loves books. I picked three that he recommended. It's not like I really ever read them though.
I opened up the door to my flat only to be greeted by a faint smell of spices and incense. I went to Catra's door and took out my earbuds to hear her faintly talking behind the door. I couldn't tell what she was saying but decided it was best to give her some space for now. I went and deposited my bag and to change clothes in my room. I looked around my room and saw all of my boxes with a note that said that Glimmer and Bow got done with their classes and came to my dorm to see if I was there. I obviously wasn't. But the note continued by saying they were let in by a girl with feline characteristics. They finished the note by saying they brought in the rest of my boxes.
I texted them a quick thank you. Glimmer replied with a "np." I put everything away in the various nooks and crannies I found while looking for cute places to where they could go. I looked back on my handy work. It looked half decent for being thrown together in half an hour. I walked out of my room to be greeted by yet again wonderful smells. This time Catra was out of her room and making something to eat.
"Hey, whatcha makin'?"
"Uh, some kind of chicken dish recipe I got from a friend. Do you want some?" She looked back at me. She had a metal band caressing her face, it kept her hair out of her face. It looked good, it would look better on the floor- No! Don't go there Adora. She probably hates you for abandoning her earlier today.
"Sure, I can eat. It smells good."
"Here's to hoping it tastes good too." She giggled as she finished her sentence and turned back to the cooking. I could see genuine happiness in her face as she smiled. She wore an overly large t-shirt that was tied in the back to make it tighter around her waist. She wore some sporty shorts that could be mistaken for something else. I wouldn't let my mind think of the actual word. She doesn't like girls like you do idiot.
"Dinner is served," she said as she turned off the stove and grabbed two plates, forks and knives.
And we're ending it there for now. Suffer!!! And yes, Adora forgot that Catra was a lesbian too. Such is the memory of the caring. Hope you enjoyed it. Peace!!
