Prologue

(Y/N) POV
I was running through the abandoned streets everyone else is nestled in their comfy , warm homes . While I'm running trying to find food. My (H/L) (H/C) flying behind me. No knows I exist im just a orphan, no one cares about the orphans. I stop by one of the apple trees I bust regulars my parents used to tell me ' A apple a day keeps the doctor away' I was naïve enough to think that would keep them away.
CRUNCH.
My head snaps up like a prey in the eyes of their predator.
Then I saw him. A boy. If I would've have guessed I would have said he was around my age . Which was ten. His forest-green eyes widen at me.
"H..hello?" the young boy says. In my head all I can think about is the bad things that could happen maybe he wants to take me to a nearby Military Police... Maybe he already knows my secret. I take a deep breath .
"Hello." I mumble slightly. A small smile appears on his face briefly. He take a step closer to me as the cold winter breeze flys throughout the alleyway, his messy brown hair moves with it.
"How come your alone out here with no-one? Surely your parents are looking for you?" He says in a questioning tone.
I gulp " My parents aren't here any more. " his eyes fill with sorrow.
"I'm sorry ... I'm Eren" he say trying to brighten up the mood he steps closer again he was stood directly in front of me now I felt intimidated , him being quite a bit taller than myself. I am small for my age , yet I'm mature for my age ,
"(Y/N)" I hold out my hand to shake which he does . I look up at him ... he looks familiar. We go silent. It's not a awkward silence as I expected it was comfortable scilence. My stomach lets out a obnoxisuly loud rumbles. Eren chuckles slightly.
"I'm guessing your hungry," I knod at him he looks up at the apple tree above us him beinf taller than me he manages to reach one easier than me. He takes is gently off the tree before handing it me and sitting down of the grass I sit down next to him taking a bite out of the delicous apple savouring every bite. "Have you ever wanted to leave these pesky walls and see the outiside them ?" he says looking at the walls seemingly in a trance. I smile knodding at him.
"Of course have you not heard what is out there it sounds like a fantasy land but it's it right outside them walls!" I say glancing at him from the side his eyes lighting up at what I say. That when I hear the footstep running up to I panic.
No-one else can notice me I repeat in my head looking at Eren. " I have to go," I whimper slightly hearing the footsteps get close
"Why?" He says looking confused, " Will I ever see you again?"
I smile inwardly at the thought of him missing- unlike anyone else - "meet me here every night and we can talk about our adventures into the outside world!" I say smiling at him he nods. Just as I run off into the other direction I turn back seeing the Military Police a breath I didn't know I was holding in escapes.
Just as I promised Eren and I met up every night until the day...
Humanity was reminded of the Humiliation of being caged like birds.
