Chapter Nine: Unexplainable Feelings

Kyung Sae’s POV

The two men had already began approaching me by the the time I heard the door budge open. Jong In, the arrogant, rich boy  rushed in and beat the kidnappers and saved my life. He aggressively, as if he had meant to do this his entire life, threw the men to the ground and ran to me.

I’ve never seen this side of Jong In before... Maybe he isn’t so bad after all.

Before I knew it, Jong In had me in his arms, still trying to protect me, even though the men had long scurried away from us. His breath was heavy and he seemed afraid of something, although I didn’t know what it was then.

“T-thank you.” I said as the simple phrase slipped out of my mouth.

He seemed startled by my words and let go of me in embarrassment.

“What were you thinking!?! Does this look like a bathroom to you?! Do you realize what could of happened, they could of done something to you and nobody would know! Are you crazy?” He yelled at me, shaking me in a way I had never experienced before.

“Let go of me!” I hurtfully shot back. “I’m sorry I don’t read english well, and I thanked you for saving me, but why are you so mad? I didn’t mean for this to happen!”

“Do you think I cared about you? Do you think just because I bought you your ticket, and paid for you luggage means that we’re all of a sudden close? I saved you because I didn’t want to look like the bad guy, the irresponsible jerk who lost his partner? He said coldly.

“Don’t misunderstand.” He said as he turned away. “Let’s get out of here before we cause a scene. I’m going to the boy’s dorm. When we get back to Korea, don’t act like we know each other.”

The door of the building slammed to my surprise. His words stung the back of my throat as I clutched my left arm.

“Do you think I cared about you?”

“Don’t misunderstand.”

“When we get back to Korea, don’t act like we know each other.”

I pulled the heavy door open, and returned to the busy city streets of New York City. I thought that maybe, just maybe Jong In would be waiting for me, with the cheerful smile he had smiled while as we explored together that day. Instead, I was greeted by the crowds of unwelcoming people and a cold, evening walk to the dorm.
