Ten year old Jungkook walked around his new room, placing his stuff neatly in place. His mom had chosen this room to be his. Jungkook liked it very much. It had a nice window seat, where he could look out into the street below. It reminded him of his place back in the States, except that it was a much quieter suburb.
His dad had gotten a promotion and they had moved to Gwacheon-si over the Summer. Jungkook didn't really mind moving to another country. He looked at it as an adventure, a way to see and appreciate new things.
His mom was originally from the States but his dad was born in Busan. He had moved to the States years ago for new work opportunities and had met and fallen in love with Jungkook's mom. A few years later, Jungkook was born and they had decided that they didn't want more than him. So Jungkook remained an only child, not that he minded. He had a lot of friends and he enjoyed being an only child. He was quite spoilt.
His eyes found a boy looking up at his house from the street below. Jungkook waved and indicated for the boy to come to the door. The boy smiled and waved back. Jungkook raced down the stairs and went to meet him.
"Hey, I'm Jeon Jungkook. We just moved in."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Jung Hoseok. So you're the new folks from the States?"
Jungkook smiled happily. He was good at making friends and this boy seemed friendly enough.
"Yeah, we're from Los Angeles. Dad just got a promotion so we came over. Are you at the school I saw when we passed two blocks down?"
Hoseok smiled and his lips formed a cute heart shape. Jungkook had never seen something like that before.
"Yeah. That's our local school. Will you be there too?" he asked Jungkook hopefully. Hoseok had already decided that Jungkook was very friendly and he liked that a lot.
"I am. I'm excited to start at my new school and I'm glad I made a friend already."
He smiled at Hoseok who returned it. His eyes traveled to the mailbox on the front of the property.
"Hey, I think you guys have some mail already," Hoseok said excitedly.
Jungkook crinkled his forehead. Mail? As in snail mail? People still did that? He walked over to the box where Hoseok was already removing the piles of envelopes and papers.
"Thanks Hoseok. I'll give those to my mom. She'll know what to do with it," Jungkook said, taking the mail from his new friend. He waved to Hoseok, who said he had to run on home for his dinner.
Jungkook carried all the papers and set them down on the dining table.
"Mom, I made a new friend and I brought our mail inside," Jungkook called out and settled on the chair to sift through the piles of paper.
"Mail? But we haven't given anyone our new address. It's probably for the people who lived here previously. I don't have their forwarding address. Just throw it out Kookie-ah," His mother said, sticking her head out of the kitchen where she was packing the shelves.
Jungkook nodded and was just about to do that when a small yellow envelop caught his attention. The paper was smooth and was hand written on, unlike the others that looked like they came from offices.
He pocketed the envelop and threw out the rest as his mother had instructed him. Jungkook had completely forgotten about the letter until he was ready for bed. He was changing out of his day clothes and into his pjs when it fell out of his pocket.
He decided to change and then open it. After saying goodnight to his parents, he opened the letter slowly. One sheet of paper was folded neatly inside.
