I woke up in an unfamiliar place, I looked around and saw that I was not in my room, not anymore, I realized that I moved in at the candy shop... I stood up from my futon and walked out of my room, I heard somebody humming at the room in front of mine as the pots and pans clashed with one another.

I opened the room to see Darryl cooking something for breakfast, I looked out the kitchen window and saw that the sun hasn't even peeked over the horizon, "You cook for breakfast every day?" I asked him as I sat down at the dining table, "well it was a routine of mine before I moved in here so yep, I do cook breakfast every day," he placed butter over the pan and mixed the sticky batter mixture on the large bowl he had on his right side.

he dropped some berries over it and mixed it a bit one more time before scooping for it.

the door opened once again and saw Zak entered "oh good morning Nick and Darryl"
"good morning" I replied, "good morning too," Darryl said with an upbeat tone in his voice, like usual.

after a good 15 minutes, he served us 3 blueberry pancakes stacking on top of each other, "Nick can you fetch for the syrup downstairs, uhmm at the old wardrobe?" I nodded "be right back!" I said "thanks!" they said

I never really had breakfast during the morning so this experience is kind of surreal to me, not surreal but kind of pointless.

I walked down the stairs and made my way behind the cashier, when I looked at the shelves all of my clothes are not hanging anymore on the hangers, I was confused but I just shrugged it off.

I grabbed the syrup at the wardrobe as they instructed and walked up the stairs again to eat with them.

We ate peacefully in comfortable silence as we saw the sun peeked out over the horizon through the window, "wahh! it's so pretty!" Darryl and Zak exclaimed as they looked out the window behind me, I turned my head and saw one of the most memorable sunrises I've ever seen, the sky got painted in purple hue as the orange sun burns through the horizon and lights up the black sky to a shade of blue once again.

we finished up eating and I helped out Darryl with the clean-up while Zak was wiping the countertops,  "hey don't you two have school too?"

Darryl looked at me funny "well yeah... I do but I start in the afternoon Zak start in the morning though,"

"oh okay, by the way where are my clothes?" Zak shrugged, Darryl sighed "It's in the living room I was folding stuff before I cooked breakfast so I thought maybe I should do yours too,"

I smiled at him "Thank dude! I actually don't know what to say" I let out a small laugh and headed out of the room

I walked into the bathroom downstairs and washed off.

after I finished washing up, I walked into the living room, I saw a pile of clothing lying on 3 corners, I saw mine in one and it has the most build-up "Darryl did all this?"

Zak walked in "Nah I also helped out, soo yeah! I also help out from time to time"

I gave him a small smile "thanks dude, mind helping me move these things?" he smirked and shook his head as he lifted the remaining piles off of the floor and brought them into my room.

"so... how do you like your new room?" I turned to him as I button up my uniform "it's homey! homier than my old one" he nodded his head "well glad you're enjoying your stay, your shift starts at 5 PM, by the way, Monday Wednesday Friday and  Sunday!"

I nodded, "thanks!" he chuckled "don't mention it!"

Zak and I walked out of the house as Darryl opened the front of the store

"so who mans the place when Darryl goes to school?" I asked
"Sometimes I do, or we just close it as long as there's nobody around" I nodded.

"where is your school anyway?" he asked me "[Static] high school"

"oh! that's kinda near isn't it?" I nodded "well I'm gonna take the subway.... see you at 5!"

"yeah! see you!" we split ways in a 2-way street, one goes to the subway and one goes to the high school I attend.

I saw the gates of the school and noticed two guys are just standing there, the lime green jacket and sky blue sweater-wearing duo were noticeable they were, looking around and George turned in my direction "CLAY! THERE HE IS!"

the two ran up to me "Nick!! why didn't you told us sooner?! where did you stay?!"

"chill! chill! guys! chill!" I laughed at them, we walked back to the school and changed to our indoor shoes, we settled inside the classroom since it's still an hour before class, I told them what happened immediately after they calmed down.

George was crying "what an angel that cashier boy was!" he gripping tightly onto Clay's shoulders, "George! that hurts!" "I DON'T CARE!" I laughed it off again and the 7 AM bell rang.

it was a quick day at school the sun has moved around the sky and painted the sky a shade of bright orange, the clouds the sky, and the surroundings were painted in a shade of orange

the two decided to visit me at my new place, the candy shop just to check on things, they said

"Nick! it's our fault you got kicked out at least let us visit your new place?" George wouldn't stop guilt-tripping me so I gave in, in the end. we were walking back at the longer route since I no longer have any reason to visit the shortcut.

we were walking and talking about games and stuff when I saw the familiar figure over the other side of the road, I squinted my eyes to see clearly who it was, it was "ZAK!!!" he looked up from his phone and looked around confused who's calling him, I waved my arm to get his attention and he did see us, He ran up to us and looked at my friends "Nick!!!"

I introduced Zak to the others and they became acquainted we all were laughing and talking about stuff until we reached the candy shop, there I realized I don't have a key yet.

Zak took the key from his wallet and opened the front door of the shop.

We opened the doors and the sweet scent of sugar and wood filled our noses as we stepped inside "it's kind of cold here considering that the directly hits this spot?" George remarked

"yeah but since this area is pretty open and there are windows, the heat can circulate efficiently, we don't want our candies melting on each other haha!" Zak replied

"that's true" Clay replied

"Nick you could show them around if you want," he said as he wipes the specks of dust off of the candy jars "Aight imma do that,"

I gestured the two to follow me as I climbed up the stairs, the staircase was like in a room, and the lighting of that place was what seems to be like a lantern that changes colors from white to orange or red.

I reached the top of the stairs and showed them the living room
"that's spacious! and homey!" the two remarked
I showed them the kitchen then next "Whoa this looks like a well-used kitchen!"
and lastly, I showed them my room, they stepped in and sat on my futon

"Nick, this is amazing! the people here are like ten times better than the ones back in yo-" George stopped talking  "I'm sorry I didn't mean that"

I smiled at him and sighed "Nah it's fine at the very least I can start  a new beginning in this place"

George sighed "Nick we're so sorry keeping you in our place longer than you're supposed to I can't-"

"It's fine if the people there truly cared about him wouldn't they at least give him a hug or words like, Wher have you been we've been worried, instead of kicking him out, senselessly," Darryl said by the door

"Darryl I-" I tucked my lower lip in my mouth feeling the weight of his words on me "it's fine I've been through it as well"

"It's the cashier boy," Clay remarked

"I'm Darryl and you two are?"

"I'm Clay"

"and I'm George"
