I ran through the woods under the cover of the moon at top speeds

I ran through the woods under the cover of the moon at top speeds. I could feel the wind in my hair as I ran and it felt amazing. Nighttime runs during the summer were my absolute favorite thing. I didn't have to worry about the sun or running into humans and it was warm enough to not wear a coat. I could also see very well in the dark due to my night vision. All summer Addison, Bree and Bonzo were at Cheer camp. That left me to hang out with Eliza and Zed most of the time or just swim in my pool. Luckily Bucky and the Acey's were also at camp so I didn't have to deal with them. Shortly after we started hanging out with the zombies Eliza figured out what I was. She's a lot smarter than people give her credit for. I explained a little bit about my powers and such to her, Bonzo, Zed and I eventually told Bree as well since I trusted her. Bree took the news a little weird. She couldn't stop staring at me for a few days but eventually got used to the idea of me being a vampire. The zombies instantly accepted me. Zed was a little confused at first until I explained and Eliza wanted to know everything. Bonzo just gave me a hug and they were all very supportive. The whole ordeal made us all a lot closer and I loved having friends who accepted me for me. It was nice not having to hide all the time. I hardly ever hid my eyes anymore.

After a few minutes of running nowhere in particular I stopped to take a drink from my water bottle which hung at my side. After my drink I clipped it back onto my belt and looked around as I wiped blood from the corner of my lips. I recognised the area and felt my stomach drop. I had been here once before a few years ago but my gut always told me to stay away from this place. I turned to run back home when I heard a twig snap. I spun on my heels and scanned the area for the source of the noise. My brain said it was probably a squirrel or something but my instincts told me otherwise. I looked around without hearing anything. I was about to brush it off and head back home when I heard another noise. A footstep. I instantly put myself on guard, leaving my fangs and claws in for now.

"Who's there?" I called out, making sure my voice was steady. I waited for a response and nearly jumped when I got one.

"What are you doing so far into the woods this late?" A male voice asked and I spun around to see a boy leaning against a tree. He had dark brown hair with a white streak in front and brown eyes. He was clearly attractive, despite the fact he was half in shadows.

"Took a wrong turn." I said simply while I scanned him for any threat. I saw his necklace and knew what he was immediately. I have to get out of here.

"Do you need directions?" The boy asked and I shook my head.

"No, that's fine. I know my way." I said as I started to back up, trying to slowly get away without revealing myself.

"I thought you said you took a wrong turn?" The boy asked and I nodded.

"Yeah but I know which way I came from so I can just double back. Thanks though." I played it off and looked around.
