Your Pov.

I should be sleeping, but here I am walking down the halls under a cloak to the "enemies" quarters. God, I would kill for a teleportation spell. I'm sure there is one, but it's by far not taught to second years. Maybe I could ask Fred or George they normally know that kind of stuff.
I lean close to the entrance and whisper the code, "Dedication" to the wall. I disliked how they always changed it, I hope our house never does that kind of bs. As I enter the common room, I'm hit by a light smell of cigarettes and the lake water with girls perfume way too strong.
I guess someone found the perfume sprays again after Filch collected them all and poured them down the sink. The cigarettes have always been passed around the school, no adults come into the common room or people sneak off near the lake.
Draco was laying on the leather couch. His arms crossed and gel hair messed up. I flick his forehead.
"WHAT-" he finishes his yelling into my hand.
"Shut up, shut up" I whisper shout in his ear. He starts claiming down and I remove the invisibility cloak.
"Y/n?! What the hell is wrong with you?!" He gives me a one over with a look of bewilderment.
"I need your help with something"
"What?"
"I need your help in training Nix."
"Nix... that dog thing you mentioned?"
"She's not a dog thing"
"Right. Wolf, my mistake." He rolls his eyes and I shove him off the couch.
"Hey!"
"Come on dumb ass, we have to go get the books"
We bicker as we walk down the hall on the appropriate way to get someone off the couch, I still believe I have the correct point. We settled to agree to disagree.
Draco seemed to be "thrilled" joining me on my quest to get books for some "extra credit" on Nix.
"Must we do this the night before my first game?" He whines and I laugh.
"What? You think you want some beauty sleep for it?" He scoffs at my comment and I slip out a book.
"101 tricks to teach your familiar" I scan through a couple pages and put it back. Draco goes over and sits down at a table, while I continue searching.
"Ah, this will work" I put the book down on the table. Draco lazily reads the title, "How to Train your Familiar? Seriously?"
"Oh come on it's not bad plus it gives a bit of history"
Draco begins to read aloud,
"For the modern witch, a familiar can be any animal with which the individual feels an affinity. While these animals are not considered evil spirits, they're far from being just a household pet and are treated as partners in the practice of magic."
"See? It's basically perfect for us!"
"A quick history lesson is not going to help us."
"No but it does define it and look a further bit down." He huffs but continues- the flame of the candle's light flickers while he reads silently for a moment. I catch a glance at his eyes that shine.
"Okay, there actually is a section on wolves shockingly- In addition to the likely suspects, there were other animals that were witches familiars during the Dark Ages. In Northern Europe, wolves and witches were closely linked. During the werewolf-witch trials, men and women were accused of witchcraft and shapeshifting. Was it the witches shifting into wolves or were they actually wolf familiars? Wolves were sacred to the old gods like Apollo and Odin, as well."
"Wow, so like. Werewolves??"
"No shit Sherlock- oh! Here's the step by step."
"What's the first one?"
"Open yourself to the idea and concept of a familiar. Your familiar may already share your home if you have a pet with whom you have always had a special or spiritual connection. Do you have that done?"
"Um. I'm pretty sure? Nix and I are coolio"
"Is that all? What kind of a connection do you both have exactly?"
"Hm. I wanna say we're kind of friends"
"Well you're going to have to open yourself up to her more if it's just a kind of or you need more confidence in your answer" he rolled his eyes and shut the book getting up.
"Step two is finding a sacred place, we need sleep and we can't do this at night with a monster on the loose. Come on let's just go to bed and be done for the night"
I sigh reluctantly but realize he's right. I have to kick his ass tomorrow.
I take him back to his room.
"Okay now gimmie the book"
"No way, you'll just stay up all night reading it."
"So what if I do?"
He scoffs, "well then I can't beat your ass properly knowing you only got an hour of sleep or none. I'm going to keep this with me until we finish step two, good night." He stomps away and before I can go after him the entrance closes up behind him.
I growl, but proceeded to go to bed annoyed.
What if... what if he actually just cares I get enough sleep? Ha bullshit.
