Percy tried the doorknob and was not thrilled to find it was not locked. You would think a woman of her skill she would know what to do for her own safety. He opened the door slowly so not to startle her after all she was a trained assassin. He did not wish to die before he met his child.
She sensed Percy at the door. She spotted him as he walked by she would know his shadow anywhere well to be honest she had hoped he would come and visit her that was why she had left the door unlocked. He did not hesitate to go in but he did call out to her.
"Nora, it is Percy don't kill me."
She laughed, if she had thought it had been anyone else they would have found a knife in their heart as soon as they took a step through the door.
"I promise I will not kill you as long as you are here to make love to me. We keep getting interrupted and I fear I am longing to touch you skin to skin."
"We can after we talk. There is something important we need to discuss. So we need to talk first."
She patted the side of the bed inviting him to sit there. He went to over to sit next to her he looked over at the door to the rest of the house, she laughed.
"It is locked Percy I would not plan a romantic liaison with out taking precautions. It is why I left the door open hoping you would come to see me. Now what was it we need to talk about?"
"I have been told you have been sick, off and on over the last couple of weeks is that true?"
"Yes, but how did you know?"
"Ada was concerned that you were not aware of why you were ill."
"I was going to see Wesley next week to make sure I was not dying."
Percy leaned over and kissed Nora on the nose.
"You are not dying Nora you are with child!"
The words hung in the air how could that be possible they only made love once.
"We only did it once how can that be?"
"That is all it takes Nora, one joining to have a baby."
"Oh."
Her hands were folded in her lap. She was looking down at them as if there was something remarkably interesting she was looking at. He placed his hand on hers.
"We need to marry Nora. It is not an option you could be carrying my heir and he cannot be illegitimate."
She started to cry, and he took her into his arms and held her.
"Oh, Percy I am so sorry I never meant to take you away from Ada certainly not like this. She loves you so much."
He pushed her back still holding on to her but so she could look him in the eyes.
"Nora, Ada and I have not been together since before we met. We have not talked before tonight when she told me of your condition. I found from the moment we met I was completely and undeniable under your spell. I love you Nora and I want to start a family with you. I plan on going to your father in the morning and ask him for your hand. I will keep our secret, but we must marry quickly. I will not take no for an answer you are to be my bride."
She fell against him, and he held her like that for a while before he was able to lay her down and let her go. All thoughts of making love to her gone. She was in shock and he would not dishonor her by taking advantage of her helplessness. He was getting up off the bed, but she stopped him.
"Please do not go. I do not want to be alone."
"Very well I will stay until you fall asleep."
He held her close to him and waited until she was asleep before he left. He had a lot to do before morning while he was laying in bed. He worked out all the things he had to do before he met with her father. He needed to make sure to get a special license, he needed to go and tell his grandmother he was going to ask Nora for her hand. He needed to go and buy her some bobbles she needed a special one to show how much she really meant to him. That was his first stop after leaving her was to his jewelers. He had not bought any for anybody other than Ada and he wanted to make this something set apart from anything he had ordered before.
