The vigilantes of Dagobah were not expecting this.
At the beginning of the match, Kiniku was busy trying to calm down Chiryuka and Himiko. Dabi had been suspiciously quiet. After Izuku had shattered Shoto's ice wall, the vigilantes cheered with pride... Dabi winced. When Izuku started showing bruises and cuts, Himiko had to be held back by Chiryuka. Then Izuku grabbed Shoto's collar, shouting at him. "The hell?" muttered Dabi. What set Izuku off?
"Wait..." Chiryuka began, eyes widening, "He's telling him to use his left side."
Dabi froze up. Not only because Izuku was being suicidal, but because he knew second hand that Shoto using his left side was a mental blockade several years in the making. What on Earth was he thinking? " Dammit, Todoroki... " Chiryuka muttered, "That's what he's saying," she explained to the other vigilantes. " It's your power, not his. " Dabi took a look at his palm. It had been a while before he could've believed the same thing.
" Do you want to be a hero? " Chiryuka continued, faltering as the line went on, " Then come at me with everything... you've... got ."
Class 1-A knew Shizento was a formidable force.
They also knew he was a bit crazy when the situation came down to it. However, they never expected that he was crazy enough to get Shoto-freaking-Todoroki of all people to use his left side . The side he refused to use in combat. The side that had been literally and figuratively scarred. The side that he was using to face Shizento. No one said a word as the competitors clashed; even Katsuki was silent. Then came their final clash...
THOOOOOOOOM!!!
Everyone in Class A, B, and anyone else in the stands were suddenly forced to grapple onto their seats. Midnight was thrown off of her pedestal; Denki grabbed Minoru before he could fly away. Momo held her hands in front of her face, as did Ochako and Tenya. Flames, ice crystals, and rushing wind soared all about the arena. In the center, Shizento and Shoto were in midair, fist clashing in an attempt to knock out the other. Shizento was covered in cuts, bruises, and blood; Shoto was coated in sweat, frost, and fire.
The spectacle was a sight to behold.
"MY EARS!" Kyoka screamed, barely audible. "THE ACTUAL FUCK!?" several of the students exclaimed, Denki and Kastuki being a few. "THIS IS SO FREAKING MANLY!" Eijiro screeched, though not even those nearby could totally hear them. "WHAT'S TODOROKI DOING?" Momo managed to ask, noticing how his right side was starting to overpower his left. The gust began to die down.
"They're both at their limits!" yelled Ochako, "I think Todoroki's planning one more bur-"
THOOOOOOM!! "-st!"
The arena roared in a gust of wind once again. The battlegrounds were swept in a dust cloud. Class 1-A struggled to remain in the stands. Dark Shadow was helping Fumikage and others stay connected to the ground. Some of the students screamed. Mic and Eraserhead were too dumbfounded to actually commentate. The winds rose upward... and began to slow. As the dust settled and people were able to safely sit down, Midnight scrambled back onto her post. On one side stood Shizento, his arm dug into the ground, barely in front of the boundary line; a bit of blood mixed in with the dip Shizento's hand had created.
On the other side, Shoto stood upright... in a crater on a wall, out of bounds.
The audience collectively held their breath. Slowly, surely, agonizingly , Shizento picked himself up, and began trudging to the center. His breathing heaved, his body shaked. He wasn't the prettiest thing to look at right now. Midnight remained silent; small murmurs echoed in the stands. Class 1-A took it all in with wide eyes. Shizento reached the center, raised his hand into the air... and curled it into a triumphant fist.
