...Day of the U.A. Entrance Exams (1 Month Later)...
Izuku loved his new family.
Okay, family may have been a bit too strong of a word, but nonetheless, that's what it felt like to Izuku. Himiko was the little sister. Kiniku was the badass big bro and mentor. Chiryuka was, funnily enough, the mom of the group. Dabi was the mysterious but caring papa bear. It felt... surreal to Izuku in the fact that he knew these people, but he wouldn't trade them for the world. Especially since Chiryuka and Kiniku's teaching sessions reasonably began to bear fruit, for both Izuku and Himiko.
The results were honestly terrifying.
It was safe to say that Izuku and Himiko were above average in terms of fitness, but Izuku in particular was borderline superhuman. They could both keep up with Kiniku and other physically adept people in combat, but Izuku could actually predict and outmaneuver his opponents on a faster scale. As for Chiryuka's mechanic sessions, Himiko and Izuku had basically the same skill set, but both used them for entirely different projects.
While Toga was working on throwing darts that sucked blood to accommodate her quirk, Izuku was working on something to accommodate his analysis.
Izuku knew very well that he was fighting basically defenseless when he was out in the city. The scar next to his ribs was a testament to that. The armor could come later, but first, Izuku had to figure out how to cover his more vital areas, specifically the face. What he came up with was something insane, but definitely doable. A pair of headphones, seemingly normal and functional, but with the right set of inputs, they became a visor, guarding the eyes and ears while strapping themselves to the back of the head for stability. They allowed Izuku to analyze anything within his field of vision (people, quirks, a building's structural integrity, and etc.), and the areas covering the ears could relay the sound coming from the outside, cancel it out entirely, or scramble it to avoid falling under certain quirks' effects. They also had Bluetooth.
Chiryuka was crying tears of joy at the end of his proposal.
It had taken a good part of two weeks to perfect the base design and start prototyping. The third week was a series of trials and errors; they were lucky that Dabi was their supplier and that Chiryuka's quirk made being a mechanic and absolute benefit. By the start of the fourth and final week, while Himiko was polishing her final model, Izuku had completed his own project.
He still remembered the first test run.
The results of his labor were a set of dark green headphones, with black and electric blue accents for style. He tried them out in a practical manner with the phone Dabi had given him (Izuku didn't ask how) and Chiryuka had modified (vigilantes had to make sure they weren't caught, right?). The Bluetooth worked perfectly, which was more than Izuku could say for the first few prototypes. Now for the real test. Izuku made sure his headphones were secured properly, before inputting the startup sequence: 5 rhythmic taps on the left side, 6 rapid rhythmic taps on the right (A/N: To the tune of The Day from MHA Season 1). Nothing happened at first.
Then Izuku heard the parts begin to click and shift.
The bridge part of the headphones flipped over his eyes, splitting in two with a green lense that started to form. From the back of the headphones, a metallic fastener strapped itself to the back of his head. The visor continued shifting and clicking various parts in and out. When the processes was finished, Izuku had a visor that looked like ski goggles on his head, with the headphones covering his ears and a metal fastener on the back of his head.
He almost fainted when the operating system went online.
It was minimalistic but efficient. Izuku could scan his surroundings, record and playback his surroundings, and call people, should the need arise. Satisfied, he tapped the left side three times and the right side four times, causing the visor to revert back to its headphone form. Chiryuka was bouncing around the room in glee. Himiko and Kiniku were applauding on the side. Izuku heard slow clapping behind him.
