Same day

Blue's POV:

"Papa! Im home!"

I yell out as I make my way into the house, heading towards my father's bedroom.

"S-sans, is that you...?" he replies softly, his voice like wind rustling through an old home.

"You know I go by Blue nowadays Papa! But yes, it's me." I reply with a laugh, I open the door and creep towards the chair at his bedside.

As I sit down by his side he says "Who are you? Are you a friend of my sons?" with a distant look in his eyes. I sigh as he begins to ramble on with praise about me and Paps.

Papa is a human who adopted me and papy when we were younger. He was in his forties at the time and infertile. So, wanting to feel the joy of fatherhood, he adopted us. But as he got older he began to slowly show signs of dementia. Papy ended up dropping out of school after he had to stop going to work and took it upon himself to make money to take care of me and Papa. He isn't around as much anymore.

On some of Papa's worse days I have to stay home in order to take care of him properly, on his better ones sometimes I get to stay out a little later. I can also get our neighbor to look after him if I'm going to be gone all night. But I don't want to burden him, so I often don't.

I pull out of my thoughts as an old, weathered hand brushes up against mine and I look up to see my father's eyes clear and smiling.

"How was school, my little blueberry?" he says in a fatherly tone.

With a start, I begin to fight back tears as I recount all of the events from the last few days, relishing this moment of clarity as long as I can. I remember how he would ask me this everyday after school. I wish those days would come back for good.

Some refreshing wholesomeness after the last chapter huh? Sorry its short, I thought this would be a nice place to leave off though. I hope you all enjoyed today's chapter. If you have any preferences on who you want to go next, go ahead and comment them!

See you soon!
