~~ This isn't exactly a part 2 but I figured the title would suffice for both. I've been on a LOTR/Hobbit binge lately. I am so obsessed with Thranduil it's ridiculous lol. Plus, there is no limit on gay LOTR/Hobbit smut. Anyways I think I'm gonna make this take place a couple months after the end of 'The battle of the Five Armies'. There will be flashbacks throughout. Enjoy!~~

Thranduil sat atop his throne. His face solemn and his eyes tired. He was still fierce and beautiful. Like an angel. If looks could kill he'd be the master of destruction. The passed month had been uneventful. He was angry. The events the battle resulted in displeased him. Legolas, had sent word that he was staying in Rivendell for the time being. Tauriel had also fled. She, however did not send any correspondence. Not that he blamed her. He had in fact become lonely. He'd spent centuries with his hard exterior. The fact that he was starting to feel was not ideal for him at all. He hated it. Elves lived for a very long time. Most days felt like mere minutes. The passed few months however felt like forever. He missed company. He missed his son, he even missed the dwarves, but for reasons he'd been suppressing most, he missed Bard. They had gotten close in Dale. They had a mutual understanding but they also had something else. Or so Thranduil thought. So much had happened and so many things had changed, the persona that he portrayed had started to crack. The memories came flooding back.

Thranduil, his heart heavy and his body aching from battle, he saw the hurt look in his son's eyes. That single look broke his heart.

"I cannot go back" Legolas spoke, cutting the cold air. As much as it pained him, he understood. Legolas felt for Tauriel what she did not feel in return. He knew Elrond would be able to help him. Elrond and Thranduil both ruled over the elven kin. They were both great rulers and Thranduil would feel much better if his son was somewhere safe. Legolas though, as he knew, was stubborn.

"Where will you go?"

"I do not know" Legolas admitted. He turned to leave. Thranduil stopped him. He did not know why but the young ranger he and Elrond spoke of appeared in his mind. Almost like a vision. He saw his face and his sons. They're faces both painted with happy smiles.

"Go North." He spoke. "Find the Dúnedain. There is a young Ranger amongst them. You should meet him." Legolas looked at his father. "His father, Arathorn was a good man. His son, might grow to be a great one." Thranduil spoke, his vision fading in sight. This was the path for his son. He knew he would be okay. That lifted much worry off the king.

"What is his name?" Legolas thought aloud. Thranduil's eyes lit up as his son was taking his advice. Perhaps he too, felt something.

"He is known in the wild as Strider. His true name, you must discover for yourself." He gave Legolas exactly what he needed. Just enough curiosity for him to listen. After all he was still young, to him at least. Legolas turned to leave. There was one more thing he needed his son to know.
"Legolas." The young elf stopped. "Your mother loved you. More than anyone. More than life" Thranduil's heart ached at the words. He hadn't let himself feel the grief of his once love for a long time. Legolas turned slowly, his head down. He gave his father a half hearted elvish sign of gratitude and love. And with that he left as his father watched after him. The air was thick and in the new silence he heard the sobs of Tauriel. Suppressing his tears, the king gathered himself and continued through around the corner. Tauriel lay hovered over the fallen dwarf. She stroked his pale face and wept. Thranduil's heart was sore. He had been wrong and Tauriel had paid the ultimate price. Guilt filled the king.
