Flashback...
He was at it again and I was trying my hardest to ignore him but I knew he wasn't about to leave without getting what he wanted. This was our routine after all. "(Y/n)-ya, I don't understand why you're always so stubborn about our weekly checkups. It only takes me an hour and you know that" That wasn't long although I didn't even want to spend five minutes in his office. "I hate doctors you know that"
"Are you saying you hate me (Y/n)-ya?" That wasn't fair. I loved Law and he knew that. He was trying to get underneath my skin. "No, I hate your occupation there's a difference Law" He flashed me a small smirk before holding out his hand for me to take. "Come along. If you keep me waiting longer, I'll take my sweet time running the tests this week. I'll even be mean and make you sit on the cold metal table instead of the comfy couch"
That wasn't a mere threat, I knew Law would follow through with anything he said. However, that didn't stop me from seeing how serious he was. "You wouldn't dare" His smirk only widened before he took another step toward where I was sitting. "Do you want to take that risk?" I knew I couldn't avoid the checkup forever but that didn't mean I couldn't negotiate what we'd do during it. "No... but can we skip the bloodwork this week? You poked me six times last week before you found my vein"
My veins were never easy to find and Law knew that. However, part of me thought he intentionally missed them last time. I couldn't be sure although I made him chase me around the sub for hours before agreeing to join him in the infirmary. That would have made anyone mad. He swore it wasn't done on purpose but I allowed my mind to think otherwise.
"You better not be thinking the worst of me (Y/n)-ya and you know we can't skip it but if I can't find your vein after two pokes, I'll have someone else do it" At times I thought this man could read my mind although maybe he just knew me that well to figure me out. "I'd never think the worst of you, darling. I'm madly in love with Trafalgar Law the Pirate Captain. However, Trafalgar Law the Doctor is on my short list of enemies. Let's get this over with"
"Don't give me orders (Y/n)-ya" Sticking my tongue out I stood up from my seat. "I'll do whatever I lik-" That wasn't good. It was only a little pain in my chest although I knew Law would freak out. He always overreacted to anything involving my health. "(Y/n)-ya? What's wrong?" Oh great, he had noticed it. "I-It's a slight pain. I-I'm fine"
"(Y/n)-ya nothing is ever slight with you. Stop pretending that you're okay. Follow me to the infirmar-"

Sometime Later...
I must have blacked out although when I opened my eyes I could stare at the ceiling for a few minutes. It wasn't the white color it had been there last week. No, someone had decided to paint it and I didn't like it. "What in the hell? Who painted flowers on the ceiling?" I had thought I was alone in the room but after I had spoken, I heard someone move. "Try not to move too much. You'll hurt yourself"
Looking to my right I saw a girl but I didn't recognize her. "W-Who are you? Where is Law?" Sitting up on the bed was hard although I managed as the girl came closer. "Stay away from me!" My words caused her to pause. That was good for me although I wanted answers. I wanted to know where Law was. "Please take a minute to collect yourself, Princess (Y/n). You're still recovering" The moment I heard that title I felt my anger boil. "Don't ever call me that again! What did you do with Law!?"
The girl held her head down but from behind her, I spotted him. That bastard had some nerve showing his face. He had no right to be anywhere near me. I made it clear where our relationship stood years ago. I wanted nothing to do with him but here he was. Looking at him made me want to crawl into a dark hole and never come out. Every memory of being nothing more than his disappointment came flooding back.
