...
In the parking lot of a random basketball court Zay and Samara sat together in the car. They made a deal on the drive down not to bring up the "ex" situation. They thought it best to avoid the subject for the day as to not mess up the excitement of their pending date.
"This is messed up," Zay chuckled to himself. Samara looked over at him with her chin resting on her hand.
"What is?"
"The fact that in order for us to spend any real, uninterrupted time together we gotta sneak around like we're sixteen."
Samara laughed. "Ya know. We don't really have to. We could just tell people that we're—"
"Together?" Zay questioned. He smiled over at her. "Are we...together?"
Samara blushed. "Well...maybe." She leaned closer to him and smiled. "We'll find out after our date tonight." Samara pecked Zay's lips and he grinned.
"So, how long you been crushing on me?"
"What?" Samara laughed.
"Earlier you said that Zen knew about your feelings for me," he cheesed, "How long did she know?"
"Just a few weeks," Samara said with a shrug. Zay held his head back and laughed.
"Don't try to say it so casually like it's not a big deal!"
Samara laughed. "What! I'm not! It really has only been a few weeks."
"Does Nat and Mena know?" Samara heard Zay's question but looked away from him with a smile. "What?" Zay gasped. "So, they know too! Everybody knows that you came down here to shoot your shot!" He gave a big laugh. Samara playfully hit his arm.
"Shut up. I did not come down here to shoot my shot."
"Oh. No? So what do you call it?" he chuckled.
"I just came to tell you how I feel about you," she smiled.
"Okay. So, how do you feel about me?"
"I...like you," Samara said slowly. "A lot."
"Well, I gathered that," he chuckled. Samara playfully rolled her eyes. "You didn't fly all this way just to tell me that you like me."
"Well...no, but I wasn't expecting to talk about this right now," she blushed. "I thought we'd just talk about it tonight...when the setting would be more...romantic."
"Oh. Romantic?" Zay smiled. "Well. What's more romantic than being with the person that you love?" Samara looked at him stunned.
"Did you just say...love? Do you love me?"
"Yes. Just as much as you love me, I'm sure," he grinned. "I mean you do love me right? That's why you flew out here."
Samara exhaled and smiled. "Well."
"Well?" Zay laughed. "That can't be good."
Samara was trying to get her thoughts together. "Shut up. I'm nervous," she chuckled. "Don't laugh at me."
"Okay, I won't," he smiled as he watched her climb into his lap. Zay looked up at her and felt his heart began to beat fast.
"What I meant to say...was that I more than just love you," she started. "I'm here because I'm in love with you." She smiled at Zay and searched his eyes. He was visibly at a loss for words.
"In love...with me?"
"Yes," she uttered quietly.
Zay, unable to suppress his smile, said, "Damn. It's so crazy that you said that cuz I'm in love with you too."
Samara smiled and held his face in her hands. "I knew you had a thing for me," she teased, and then she brought her lips down to his and kissed him.
As they slowly broke away from their passionate embrace, their faces still close to each other, Zay mumbled against Sam's lips, "I think we definitely go together now."
Samara laughed. "Oh. You think so?" she said pecking his lips. Zay kissed her back.
"I know so. You love me. You're my girlfriend now," he grinned.
Samara, with her arms wrapped around his neck, looked down at him with smiling eyes. "Well that settles it then, doesn't it Isaiah?"
He licked his lips and grinned. "Yeah, I think so."
