Hello Wattpadders, I'm N. K. Hadron, and I'd like to say thank you for picking up this read.

About two years ago (i.e. early 2019), on of my friends told me he was writing an afrocentric epic fantasy novel. I asked him how he planned to that, (to be honest, I thought it was a terrible idea, really) and his response blew my mind. It brought me to wonder if I could try something similar, but with urban fantasy instead. In fact, with dark fantasy. With ghosts, with evil witches, or vampires, or maybe demons.

Then a year and a half went by, I was watching an episode from season two SUPERNATURAL, (It was the episode with the woman who turns out to be a ghost at the end) then I got an idea for a supernatural mystery novel. A novel where many things are not what they seem to be. Then I thought, hey, I'm African, and since I live in Africa, why not set it in a real place for once. Why not ditch the alternate reality setting and use my old school instead. Why not write an African novel I'd love to read.

And so I began writing what was initially called A Burnt Rope, and later called The Seven Candles (with an actual pen). Then mid-way through the book, I got stuck. Thought of dropping the book. Then I thought to put it on wattpad for all to read. But I've extended the plot slightly, and changed the beginning, (so chapters one through five are actually first drafts).

I recently changed the title from The Seven Candles, to A Song of Shadows. I'm still thinking of a better title, so if you think of one, please feel free to share.

Thank you for picking this read. Enjoy. Share. Vote.

Yours,

Nash.
