Recall: "My brother will never be able to make you feel the things I can. You are mine." He growls dominantly into my ear. "Accept it, Dezirae."
At this point I black out.
"How could you do that to her! You didn't even ask her, Elijah." I hear a male voice growl out.
"Shut up, you're going to wake her up." Another growls out. I try my best to stay still, so that I can hear what is going on. Why are they arguing? Where am I?
"Elijah, you could have given her a choice..." One of the male voices growls.
"There was no choice. She is my mate, not yours." Elijah growls out interrupting the other. This wakes me up a little more. I know where I am, and what happened. Elijah marked me. The other voice is Erik. I must have blacked out. I can feel something soft against my back. 'So I'm either in the bed or on the couch.'
"She's human. She could have chosen either of us." Erik growls out. Wait what? Did I have a choice?
"No, she couldn't have. The moon goddess chose to pair us, not you two. She is mine, and either you accept it or you leave. I won't have you corrupting my mate any longer." Elijah threatens.
"And what if she chooses me instead?" Erik growls out. I sit up now, I can't let them do this.
"Stop it, both of you. Erik, I think it's best if you leave." I say narrowing my eyes at the both of them. He doesn't move, so I shout "NOW!!!!"
He hesitantly walks out the door, slamming it behind him. This makes my head pound. I move my hand to my head, and grit my teeth. Elijah walks over to me with a tray. He places it on the bed before gently sitting on the bed. I can tell he's trying his hardest not to jostle the bed too much from his awkward movements.
"I'm sorry, we woke you." He whispers placing his hand under my chin. "How are you feeling?"
"Tired, my head hurts." I whisper.
"I thought that it might. Here is some Excedrin, and a glass of water." He hands me both, and waits for me to take the medicine.
"Thank you." I smile up at him, and take the Excedrin before chasing it back with water. I hesitantly ask, "What did Erik mean that I had a choice?"
"I knew you were awake." He sighs out, "Since you are a human you feel the bond differently than I do. We've discussed this somewhat, but we need to finish this talk when you're ready."
I nod at him to continue, and he takes a deep breath. "Since you don't feel it as much as I do, you technically could choose differently. You still have a choice, even though I marked you. If another were to place his mark over it, you would be released."
As he explains this information he clenches his teeth, and I can tell that the thought of it happening hurts him. However, he is giving me a choice. Do I want that? I look away, and my eyes flicker to the curtains.
"You should know that either way I just want you to be happy. I want you here by your own choice, not because you are forced to be." He says unclenching his teeth. I look back at him, and really take in his expression. Would he really let me go? Just like that?
