Tony quickly unlocked the door, Carlisle helpfully dropping his laptop case to its place on the kitchen table before following Tony upstairs. It was somewhat unspoken, but Tony had much prefered any important conversations in the house to be in his safe places be it the bathroom or his bedroom. Tonight he chose the latter, Carlisle more than happy to sit beside him on the made bed with their shoes kicked off at the door.

The doctor found himself lightly clasping Tony's hand as the human prepared himself to speak.

"You know that Aro saved me, that I was somewhat forced to swear myself to the Volturi... but that's just the public part of the story," Tony sighed as he faced to look at Carlisle, "What is our relation, Carlisle?"

Carlisle softened at the question, his hold on Tony's slightly tightening.

"What do you want it to be?"

"I like you, like a lot," Tony conceded, "But I need to know how you, yourself feel."

"I don't know how well Aro explained the concept of mates to you, but I fully believe you're my mate," Carlisle's words were resolute, strong and every last piece of confirmation that Tony needed.

The pair were facing each other, emerald meeting gold in a space lost from time. It seemed as if the warm light that hung above them was like the moon outside, the cool nip of the room unfelt as warm emotions bubbled up inside the two. Cold fingers reach up for Tony's jaw and the ginger leant into the cool touch. Watery eyes turned warm, green pools of wonder and a story yet to be told. Golden eyes shimmered with hope, with an affectionate lustre.

"Would it be okay if I kiss you now?" Carlisle's words made Tony's eyes widen before a happy grin split across his face, his eyes holding a new yet sombre emotion.

"If I say yes, you can't get mad after my story."

Carlisle pulled back, not disheartened at all seemingly but not willing to make that move now. He offered for Tony to sit in his lap while he spoke. For comfort, the doctor excused as the other man nowhere near gracefully managed to position his back against the vampire's chest.

"Tell me only what you wish to," Carlisle smiled, his voice making Tony further relax into his hold.

"The private story begins just under 5 years ago...

A vampire named Malakai had followed me home after a walk in the forest. He killed my mother immediately, didn't even drink her blood. He just killed her...

My father and I were taken, another vampire grabbed my father while Malakai held tight to me. We appeared at a house, Klahndike Bulivard if I remember...

There was a blue house, we entered around the back... and were dumped in the most horrific basement to exist...

We were held by chains to the walls, about six of us at a time with collars made to puncture our necks. It smelt like a human dump, riddled with dirt, rust, and blood. There was no escape when they turned the first into a newborn...
