My dad pats my back and nudges me towards the center on the gym. Dad is quiet tall and has blonde almost white hair. I guess I got my looks from my mother since she had black hair. I pull the hood off my head and let my hair fall to my waist. My hair is about to my knee's and dark brown with a red tint.

"ATTEND HUT!" My father yells loud at the crowd.

"Hut!" They respond back while becoming quiet.

"My daughter Beth, your Vice member, has requested to explain and talk to you about things coming up. Please give her your attention. Now please welcome Beth," My dad says clapping with the others as I walk to the middle.

"As you all know," I start. " Two years ago a earth quake hit what used to be North America. It caused us to split in half at the Mississippi river. We are all here for the same reason and you know that reason. To stop our side from forming a government!" They all cheer as I finish my sentence.

"We will win! We will destroy any hope of a new government. As your Vice member I will never let you down. That's why what I'm fixing to say is important. You all know it's becoming dangerous to be out on the streets. Next week will start to remodel the school to apartments, where you can stay safe. Each person will have a bed and a storage cabinet for their things. The windows will be boarded up, that way nobody on the outside will know whats happening inside the building."

"The cafeteria will be our eating area and meeting place starting next week. Men, as of tomorrow you will be needed to help this process. Women and children, you will be needed to stay in the gym to help make the plans for food, clothes, and room lay outs. If you are a member you will be needed in the office straight after this, to meet with my father."

Members are the important people. People we need safe. That's the whole reason we made the plan to keep everyone in the school. I pause to think about what to say next.

"Tomorrow each town is required to put in names of people who live there and their birth dates, to keep up with population. You will need to put you names in the count at the court house here in Russell. You can even put in new names and birth dates."

"I thank you all for listening. Please report to where needed. Thank you."

I walk out the gym doors in a hurry. I pull my hood up and tuck my hair in it, while running through the halls. I slowly push the front doors to the school open and walk out into the crisp cool air. I pace down the path quietly. Really, I have know clue where I'm going but I need a break from all this crazy crap. I creep onto a path leading into the woods. Weeds tangle around my feet as I try to step over them.

Up ahead I catch glimpse of something sparking in the moon light. I step cautiously to it and bend down. It's a trip wire. Someone wants to know if somethings around. I slowly lift my feet over it, only to step on stick. It cracks under my feet and I curse myself.

"What was that?" someone says in the distance.

"Don't worry man. I got trip wires all over the place. My phone will go off if any hangives are near, and we can kill them."

I know dang freaking well I didn't just hear him say that! It's on now!

I pull a gun from my boot and make my way towards the voices. There's a low fire burning in a clearing up ahead. I step into the tree line off the opening. Two boys looks to be about 15, my age, sitting around a fire.

"Hey man, I'm going to go get some more wood I'll be back." A blonde headed boy says walking off.

The brown headed one sits looking at the fire like it just killed his pizza. I take this as my chance and walk up behind him, pushing the barrel to the back of his head.

"Move and your dead," I tell him.

He jumps and curses under his breath.

"What do you want?" he asks.

"Well let's see, I want a pizza, a car, new guns, new knifes, this war thing over, and you dead. Oh and I want to know why you want hangives dead," I say cheerfully.

"Are you a hangive?"

Before I can respond I feel something cold being put against the back of my head.

"Put the gun down now!"

Well I guess Blondie is back.

I slowly take the gun off the back of the brown haired boy's head and lay it on the ground.

He turns around and looks at his friend and me, as his eyes widen.

"It's you! Your the girl I tried to kill in the ally earlier!" he yells.

"Yes, thank you every much for not taking good aim. Maybe you need to have somebody teach you to aim," I say trying to piss him off.

He pulls a rope out of his bag by his feet and ties around my feet. As he grabs another rope from his bag, I jump and kick him in the mouth, since both of my feet are tied together.

"Mother of doughnuts! My butt!" I yell as a sharp pain of landing goes through my butt.

"Son of a bitch!" the brown haired dude, that I kicked yells.

His friend ties my hands together as the he walks towards me.

"You son of a bitch!" He yells slapping me.

" Yeah, I get the picture. I'm a bitch and your not? And you are not supposed to hit a girl!!!" I smirk.

His face is turning as red as a apple. Awe I want a apple right now. Focus Beth.

His friend walks over and bends down to my level. He takes my hood off, which I'm surprised hasn't came off. I close my eyes fast. They can't see my eyes. They will know who I am.

"Open your eye's or I'll open them," Blondie says.

I open them and look up. They both gasp and their eyes widen.

"Your Beth? His daughter aren't you?"

I nod. My eye's are so rare. I'm like one in a billion. They are naturally a bright forest green. I've been told it's almost like they pierce through your soul.

Blondie was supposed to stay up and watch me but, he fell asleep. Sooo I crawl towards the tree line and role into it. Finding a stick was easy. I put the stick between my legs and slid it into the rope, undoing the rope on my hands. I undo my feet and take off running through the sunrise.
