I woke up and changed to my uniform, everyone was already in the lunch area, whatever it's called and either eating or just talking.
It's amazing how people can just act like nothing happened just days after the most tragic of scenes fold out infront of them.
I took a plate of what resmebled oatmeal and sat down. I was sitting next to Mikasa and she was just picking at her food.
"Hey, Mikasa. You okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine."
"Okay, but, you should eat."
She stood up and walked out the cafeteria.
Today we were doing fighting scenarios, and I was paired up with Mikasa, I was the one with the knife.
I charged at her as fast as I could, she grabbed my arm and with a quick and swift movement, I was one the ground on my back. "Damn," I muttered under my breath.
I got up and kneed her in the back, it seemed to catch her off guard. She turned around and tried to swing a punch but I blocked it, she threw another one and it hit my right cheek, causing pain to explode throughout my right temple. I stood up wearily and threw a punch at Mikasa and hit her left cheek, then threw another hitting her right in the gut. She stood up again.
Mikasa was a strong opponent, but I felt like I could beat her, I know I could. I studied her movements, Mikasa quickly ran at me and threw a punch, I dodged, she threw another one, I dodged it again. She threw another punch landing at my stomach, causing me to cough up blood. I landed on my knees with a light thump.
"Okay, that's enough. I get it, your strong. I... need to... take a break."
"Yeah, your right, we'll pick this up another time."
I coughed again and blood spewed from my throat. My body ached all over. The pain was unbearable. I looked up to see all eyes were on Mikasa and I, and we were being evaluated as well.
I think we took it little to far.
What do you think? Mommy, Daddy. I'm going to become a Scout, to help humanity rise up and take back what was once ours. I know you're proud of me. I spoke in a low voice, so no one could hear me. I could feel myself slipping away, my eyes closed subconsciously and I blacked out.
I opened my eyes to see a white blurry image, which suddenly became clear. The light outside the window shown brightly in a passionate orange with the slightest bit of red, pink and purple.
It was that sunset that made me even happier to know that one day, one day we will overcome those titans.
I looked around to see Armin sitting in a chair, his eyes closed, breathing soft. He was asleep.
I saw Mikasa to my right lying in bed with the covers up to her chin and she was asleep as well. She looked so peaceful.
I feel really bad for her, the fact that she had to watch her parents die right in front of her. Eren sat in a chair next to her, he was asleep too. Who isn't sleeping?
I sat up and Armin's eyes fluttered open. "Oh, you're awake. You shouldn't get up just yet."
"What happened?"
"Well, after that match you and Mikasa had, you collapsed and lot a bit of blood. Mikasa collapsed a while after you did, so Eren and I took you both to the infirmary.
"You must be hungry, I snagged you some food from the cafeteria." He handed me a bowl of soup.
"Thanks," I said. I took a bite, it wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. It took me a while to choke it down.
I handed Armin back the empty bowl and laid back down. "It seems so long when we all just sit around and.... just talk, y'know?"
"Right? I miss those days," he replied. We sat there a long while in silence. I looked outside the window and smiled slightly. The light was getting darker and you could faintly see stars in the sky. It made me feel much safer than ever.
I layed back down and closed my eyes. Within a matter of minutes, I was sound asleep.
