I've loved Anime since I was young, watching Voltron, Speed Racer, and Robotech. My favorites include Appleseed, Ranma 1/2, Battle Angel Alita, Akira, Vampire Hunter D, and Bao. That's the old school stuff.
My Hero Academia
The new generation of Anime is equally awesome. My Hero Academia is now one of my favorites. It gets a little annoying because of the constant retelling of everyone's quirks and retelling of events that happen in the past. It feels like the show is talking down to me, as if I'm 10 and can't understand what's happening from episode to episode. Buuuuut, I still love it.
Beastars
Another show that intrigued me is furry series Beastars on Netflix. I've never watched a show like this one. It's set in a high school but the themes are most definitely adult as in not suitable for anyone under the age of 16 or 18 depending on where you live. There's a killer on the loose, and prey animals don't really trust the predators. I can't wait for Season 2.
BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense
BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense was an unexpectedly fun show. It's about two friends that play an online VR RPG. As a gamer, I loved the series from the standpoint of fantasizing how fun it would be to be fully immersed in a game without LARPING. Yet another show that is waiting on a Season 2.
Toilet-bound Hanako-kun
Another surprise treat was Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. I watched it only because a cinnamon roll friend and I talked about her writing a book about a toilet. You had to be there. It was funny! This supernatural romance is dark but sprinkled with hilarious moments that helps to easy the tension. Also there's an adorable gay ship to stan. And I'm waiting for...yup, Season 2. This is a theme, shmeesh.
Otherside Picnic
I'm currently watching Otherside Picnic as it's being released everyday Monday on Funimation. It's in the original Japanese. It's a supernatural suspense with an angsty lesbian ship. Four episodes in as of January 25, 2021.
A Certain Scientific Railgun
A Certain Scientific Railgun is another show I'm currently watching. It's follows a bit like My Hero Academia where people have abilities. Each person has a level, 0-5. Four girls ranging from 12 to 14 level their abilities while protecting the city. It's cute and fun, but they sexualize the girls that it is a little cringy. There is a funny one-sided lesbian ship.
That's it for now. Not sure what I'm going to do with this book, but for now, it's a place to put down my thoughts about the Anime I'm watching.
