"Oh no, I have to hurry before I'm late for work," Edward rushed out of his room for work. Despite being an average college kid, working to pay for his tuition, today felt different. As he reached his car, the sense of urgency pushed him to speed off to work, fearing it might be his first time being late.

A few tense minutes later, Edward arrived and dashed into the break room to clock in. "Please make it, I don't want to be late," he muttered to himself.

After punching in his code, a huge sigh of relief escaped him. "Phew, time to start my shift," Edward said.

Working at a grocery store, Edward's task for the day was to bag groceries. "Hey Lindsay, I guess I'm helping you bag now," he said to a cashier named Lindsay, whom he was usually paired with.

"Thank you so much! I'm really glad you got here on time. There are so many customers, and I needed someone who knows what they are doing. You're a great choice," Lindsay said eagerly.

"Aw, thanks. I try my best, but right now, let's focus on the customers," Edward replied, blushing a little. He pointed behind Lindsay to signal the waiting customers.

As Lindsay engaged with the customers, a simple request for a balloon turned into a joyful moment for a mother and her daughter. However, this happiness was short-lived as a mysterious circle of light appeared beneath the daughter.

"Get out of that light now!" Edward screamed as he ran toward her.

Despite his efforts, it was too late. Both Edward and the little girl, Emma, disappeared.

"Emma... Emma, where did you go? Please answer!" the mother shouted.

"Please let this be a magic trick or something and if it is then stop it immediately" the mother said on the verge of tears.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry, but we don't have any magic tricks like that. We don't use any at all" Lindsay explained, struggling to make sense of the inexplicable event.

"EMMA!" the mother screamed in agony, witnessing her child vanish.

In the blink of an eye, Edward found himself in an unfamiliar place.

"Welcome," a stranger greeted him.
