Chapter Two - Percy

Percy Jackson had had an... interesting life. He'd gone on too many quests and killed too many monsters to count, he'd lost his memory for eight months, he'd walked through literal hell, and he'd been turned into a guinea pig (which was not fun, by the way - almost as bad as hell). But he wouldn't exchange it for the world. He had awesome friends, a larger family then he ever could have imagined, and the best girlfriend in the entire world. The only time he really thought about the terrible stuff in his past, the really terrible stuff, was at night, when he was dreaming.

Tonight, however, his dreams weren't about the past.

Percy knew exactly where he was. The huge forest, the winding street, the fog, and the familiar coldness of night - he was on the street that was next to the backside of the forest of Camp Half Blood. He saw a car drive down the street in the opposite lane that he was in. The headlights were the only thing he could see.

"We need another body for him to form," someone said a few feet away in the woods, someone definitely Greek. "Someone stronger than the last one. Someone who can't be killed by a simple dagger."

Oh no. If they were talking about what Percy thought they were talking about, this could not be good. A few years ago, the Titan Kronos had inhabited the body of Luke, a demigod son of Hermes.

"Well, who would you suggest?" another voice said.

"I heard of someone," the first voice said. "He was a wizard."

A wizard? Wizards weren't real! They were just made up things like elves and goblins!

"Tell me more."

"He died a short while ago. He was one of the greatest wizards of all time."

"Wizards?" Percy said aloud. He heard a sound next to him, and saw a boy standing there. He was kind of short, but looked about the same age as Percy. He had piercing green eyes.

"His name," the first voice said. "Was--"

"Percy!" Annabeth was shaking him awake. "Percy, wake up! We overslept, and Chiron wants to see us in the Big House."

"Huh?" Percy said, slightly disoriented.

Annabeth rolled her eyes. "You are such a Seaweed Brain. Chiron needs to talk to us about something, and I'm not supposed to be in here right now."

Suddenly, the events of the dream came back to him. Percy jumped out of bed and started walking towards the cabin door.

"Percy, you're not wearing a shirt!" Annabeth said, and threw an orange t-shirt at him. He pulled it on, and started running toward the forest. "Perce, where are you going? The Big House is this way!"

"Kronos," Percy shouted back at her. "I think he's trying to get back."

"What?" Annabeth said. "Perce, what are you talking about? Percy, get back here!"

At this point, everyone in the camp was staring at them, but Percy didn't care. He needed to find those people who were trying to bring back Kronos. Annabeth followed him into the forest.

"Percy, you're scaring me," Annabeth said. "You know it isn't safe to be in the forest without any weapons!"

Percy emerged from the forest to the road. He looked around frantically, but he didn't see anyone.

"Percy?" Annabeth ran up to him, panting and clearly worried. "Percy, are you okay? What's going on?"

Percy sighed. "I had a dream last night. It was right here, and there were two people trying to bring Kronos back."

"Are you sure?" Annabeth said.

"They said they need a new body for someone to form, a stronger body," Percy said. "Someone who couldn't be killed with a dagger."

"Oh," Annabeth said. She didn't say anything about the dream not being real - all demigods knew that dreams were rarely nothing.

"They also said something about a wizard," Percy said.

"Wizards?" Annabeth said. "Like Merlin?"

Percy shrugged.

"We should tell Chiron," Annabeth said. "He might know what it means." Percy nodded, and grabbed Annabeth's hand. He kissed her on the forehead, and they started walking along the road to Half Blood Hill (they didn't want to go through the forest again).

"Thank you for coming," Chiron said once Percy and Annabeth entered the Big House. Chiron was in his wheelchair, and standing next to him was a beautiful lady wearing a purple dress. "Finally," he added.

"We're so sorry for being late, Chiron," Annabeth said. "It's just that-"

"It's fine," Chiron said. "Although I would watch out for the harpies if you're going to be both sleeping in the Poseidon cabin more often."

"What? Oh, no, we didn't, well, we did, but that's not why we were late," Percy said. "Well, it's part of the reason, but-"

Chiron held his hand up. "You can explain after. Right now, I would like to propose something to you two. The school year starts in a week, and you both are going to New Rome for college, correct?"

"Yeah," Annabeth said.

"I have another opportunity for you," Chiron said.

"No offense, Chiron, but me and Annabeth have been looking forward to going to college together for a long time," Percy said. "If this is another quest or something, we don't want to go. We've had enough adventures for seven lifetimes."

"Perseus, please let me finish," Chiron said.

"Percy," he muttered.

"As I was saying, I have another opportunity for you that I would like for you to consider," Chiron said. "Lady Hecate, would you like to tell them more?"

So that's who the woman was. Hecate, the goddess of magic. Percy had never been quite sure whether she was on their side or not.

"Thank you, Chiron," Hecate said. "Hundreds of years ago, I granted four mortals with the power of magic and seeing through the Mist. They became what you know from stories as witches and wizards. They created a school for witchcraft and wizardry, and all their descendants - and a few mortal-borns - attend there to learn magic. The wizards also bred with mortals, and over the years, those offspring lost their magical ability, but they didn't lose the ability to see through the Mist. They are what you call clear-sighted mortals."

Woah. So Percy's mom was descended from wizards. Did that mean he was, too? Awesome.

"With all due respect, Lady Hecate, why are you telling us this?" Annabeth asked.

"The school that I mentioned is called Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry - Mr. Jackson, please stop laughing at that name - and I would like for you to attend it. There is a famous boy named Harry Potter who defeated an evil wizard named Voldemort in 1998. The rest of the gods and I believe that it would be beneficial for you to go to Hogwarts and possibly even befriend Harry Potter."

"What's the point of this?" Percy asked.

"New experiences," Hecate answered. Percy had a feeling there was something she wasn't telling them.

"Lady Hecate, we were barely alive in 1998. He would be years older than us," Annabeth said. "How are we supposed to befriend him?"

Lady Hecate grinned. "Time travel."
