Harry and Ron were in the living room, cleaning up after finishing a round of wizards chess. Harry was getting better, but Ron always won.
"At some point, I'm gonna beat you," Harry said, picking up the remains of his king and magicing them back together.
"You wish," Ron said. Then, there was a knock at the door.
"McGonagall, I think," Ron said. Harry got up and opened the door. Standing there was Professor McGonagall, just as Ron had said.
"Uh, hello, ma'am," Harry said.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Potter," McGonagall said. "And Mr. Weasley."
"Mum said you were coming to talk to her today?" Ron said.
"I'm not coming to talk to your mother," McGonagall said. "I'm actually here to talk to you two, and Ms. Granger."
"Oh, uh, alright," Ron said, then turned to the stairs. "Hermione! Come down!"
Hermione immediately appeared on the stairs and walked down them. "What, Ron? I was doing something, you better-" Then, she noticed Professor McGonagall. "Oh, um, hello, Professor!"
"Hello, Ms. Granger," Professor McGonagall. She sat down at the table and gestured for the trio to sit. They sat down on the opposite side. "I'm assuming the three of you will be attending Hogwarts this year?"
"Yes," Hermione said. "We're very excited, especially for your-"
"Thank you, Ms. Granger, but I have something I need to inform the three of you of," Professor McGonagall said. "This year, we have a lot of peculiar circumstances. One of which is that we will be having two new students coming who are in your year, from America. They attended Ilvermorny for the first seven years of their education - in American wizarding schools, there are eight years. Their parents wanted to send them to Hogwarts because they heard how great of an education it can be. Their parents are both very important in the United States, I believe they handle muggle relations, or no-maj relations, as they call it. No one else knows of this except for the professors, and I felt it fit that you three would know as well, but don't tell anyone else quite yet. I expect you to make them feel welcome and comfortable at Hogwarts this year."
"Of course," Hermione said. "When will they start?"
"On the first of September, just like the rest of you," McGonagall said. "I hope they will be treated like normal students. Understood?"
The trio nodded.
"Professor, can I tell Ginny?" Harry asked.
"Yes, you may tell Ms. Weasley," McGonagall said. "But no one else. I look forward to seeing you three on September first."
With that, McGonagall apparted out of the room.
"That was peculiar," Hermione said. "But you know what this means? Maybe this year, Harry, you won't have to be swarmed with people anymore, since there will be new students who are rather interesting!"
"Yeah," Harry said. "Hey, do you reckon maybe one of the new students knows the boy in my dream? I mean, they're both American."
"Harry, 275 million people live in the United States," Hermione said. "And he could have been Canadian, those accents sound very similar."
"Yeah, but don't Canadians say 'eh' after everything?" Ron said. Hermione rolled her eyes.
"When we get to Hogwarts, we have to try and figure out what is going on with the whole dream thing," Harry said.
"Fine," Hermione said.
"I'm going to go tell Ginny, she'll probably want to know," Harry said, and went up the stairs. He knocked on Ginny's door.
"Come in!" Ginny said. Harry opened the door, and Ginny was packing her bags for Hogwarts. She didn't look up.
"Hermione, could you hand me my bra?" Ginny asked. Harry picked it up and handed it to her. Ginny looked up and immediately blushed. "Oh, sorry, Harry. I thought you were Hermione."
Harry laughed. "It's alright."
"So, what did you want to see me for?" Ginny asked.
"Well, McGonagall just came," Harry said.
"Oh, yeah, wasn't she coming to talk to mum?" Ginny said.
"Actually, she was there to talk to me, Hermione, and Ron," Harry said.
"What about?" Ginny asked.
"She said that two Americans will be coming to Hogwarts this year. We're not really allowed to tell anyone, but since you live in the house, we figured it was best you knew, since you would probably hear us talking about it."
"Oh, that's wonderful!" Ginny said. "But why are the Americans coming here instead of Ilvermorny?"
"McGonagall said something about their parents being important and them wanting to come to Hogwarts because it's a good school," Harry said.
"I hope they aren't rich pricks," Ginny said.
"That would really suck," Harry agreed. "Especially since we have to be friends with them."
"What?" Ginny said.
"Well, you don't, but the three of us do. McGonagall wants us to show them the ropes around here and make them feel welcome," Harry said. "And, I mean, you're our friend, so you would become friends. But they're probably really nice."
"I hope so," Ginny said. "Would you hand me that t-shirt right there?"
