Annabeth Chase:

During all of my first classes all I could think about was him. When Percy looked at me, I felt something I have never felt when Luke does so. It felt...warm. Welcoming. When Luke looked at me, all I saw was a boy who wanted to use icy blue eyes.

It sounds silly that I can "see" and "feel" things when specific people look at me. Sometimes, I wonder if my life is one of those teen movies with the leading role belonging to the nerd with family issues.

That's me.

Now, I know it's weird. You're probably thinking since I am now dating the popular kid that I am higher on the social ladder. Nope. I still am the nerd who eats lunch with their "punk rock" best friend, that's Thalia.

Anyways, now I am sitting under a tree, drawing in my architecture note-book, and eating the school's disgusting salad.

"Hey nerd" my friend Thalia said, coming out of the bushes. Normally, I would slap someone who called me a nerd because to me, it's a derogatory term. But with Thalia, I know she just does it to make me mad, I won't give her that satisfaction.

"Hi Pine cone face" that is a nickname that has a long backstory.

"Don't call me that," she said glaring at me. Luckily for me, I was now immune to her glare.

"Well then don't call me nerd," I said standing up and throwing my trash in the nearest can.

When I got back Thalia was smirking at me, architecture notebook in hand.

"Thalia Grace don't even think about it," but before I could get close enough to yank it out of her hand she was off running.

I am on track, so you would think that I could catch up to her , tackle her down, grab my book and run. But Thalia got a head start, I don't want detention for tackling Thalia, and when Thalia wants to run fast, she can run fast.

Thalia ran all around the soccer field (the tree was right to the side of the soccer field) and around the school, into the parking lot, and up the front steps of our school. She then stopped, both of us panting like dogs.

"Okay, I was just gonna say" gasp "that" gasp "your drawing is really" gasp "good" Thalia whispered.

"Well thanks," I said with a smirk, "I also have something to tell you"

"What?"

I grabbed her hand, and judo flipped her over my back "Don't. Touch. My. Book"

With that I grabbed my book from her hand and walked away, leaving a gawking Thalia laying on the ground.

Just a few seconds later, Thalia was walking by my side and we were both laughing.

After we recovered Thalia turned to me, her face bright red from laughing

"What's your next class?"

"Greek"

"Really?"

I nodded and rolled my eyes "Why would I lie about that?"

Thalia shrugged, "I have that class too", "Guess who else has that class," Thalia said suggestively. I put my finger on my chin, pretending to think.

"Uh, Donatello?"

Thalia rolled her eyes.

'"No! You're hanging out with the twins too much. I mean Percy Jackson!"

"You mean your cousin?" Thalia and Percy's Dads were supposedly brothers , which made them cousins.

"Yes, my cousin who you have the hots for" smirking Thalia said. We were almost to our class door.

"Thalia, I have a boyfriend. And I do not have the hots for Percy Jackson"

Thalia raised an eyebrow.

"You and your 'boyfriend' both have no interest in each other and he treats you like crap."

She got me there.

"Okay, can we talk about this some other time," I asked her as we walked into Mr. Brunner's Greek class. Thalia nodded.

Little did I know, someone was behind us, listening to us the entire time.
