Meredith awoke with a jolt as her pager buzzed uncontrollably on her nightstand. Derek groaned, rolling over on his side, planting a quick kiss on Meredith's temple before he rolled over to go back to sleep. It was a page from one of the police officers from last night. The FBI agents just landed in Seattle, they were on their way to the hospital, and they had a bunch of questions. Meredith quickly changed, grabbed her purse and keys. "I thought you were off this morning?" Lexie asked, handing her sister a cup of coffee. Meredith nodded, greedily taking the coffee. She ended up working 9 hours longer than she was scheduled yesterday. "Is there something wrong with Paige?" Lexie asked, worry spreading over her face.

"When I left last night, her vitals were holding. If something happened overnight I would have gotten a page, so I'm hoping that they are a little stronger this morning. I have FBI Agents to deal with, so I'm going to need you to handle rounds." Meredith said, gulping down the coffee as fast as she could. She needed all of the energy she could get if she was going to be busy handling FBI agents who were going to try and pin the crime on anyone without a solid alibi or possibly even her for finding the poor girl.

"FBI agents?" Lexie asked, obviously not kept in the loop by Richard. She sighed as she realized it was supposed to be kept confidential.

"If anyone asks, I didn't tell you about that." Meredith said, quickly going to the kitchen to top off her coffee. Out the back door they went, rushing to the car.

"So, why are FBI agents here?" Lexie asked as Meredith started the car. Meredith sent a quick glare at Lexie, wondering how she could be so smart but so clueless at the same time.

"Come on Lex. Think about it." Meredith said, rolling her eyes slightly at her sister's cluelessness.

"Seriously Mer! Just tell me!" Lexie pleaded with her sister, wanting to understand.

"Ask Richard." Meredith sighed as she pulled out onto the highway. The remainder of the drive to the hospital was silent, only the soft sound of the radio played in the background, but neither of them noticed it, slowly focusing themselves for work.

When they arrived at the hospital, it was not how it normally was. The little bit of life that the hospital normally had was nowhere to be found, in its place was a bunch of cops and FBI agents. The hospital was now filled with even more fear and uncertainty than normal. People needed the opposite, especially one of Meredith's patients, Cece Colvin. Cece had been admitted a few days ago for complications following a double transplant: her heart and kidney. Everyone in the hospital needed a morale booster, and Meredith, as co-owner of the hospital, was desperate to find a way to lift spirits.

Meredith pulled herself away from those thoughts as she pulled into a parking spot, not able to use her normal one because of it being a part of a crime scene. When her and Lexie stepped out of the car, she was met with police officers, media, and three FBI agents. "Just keep walking." The blonde told them, ushering the two doctors inside. "Agent Jennifer Jareau, I am the BAU's liaison. This is Dr.Spencer Reid and Supervisory Special Agent Scarlet we just have a few questions for you Dr.Grey."

"Well-" Lexie started, then eventually cut herself off as she realized that they were not talking to her. Lexie broke away from them, going to get started on her work as Meredith showed them to a conference room close to Paige's room.

"Meredith Grey, pleasure to meet all of you, of course I wish it were on different terms." Meredith said, extending her hand towards Spencer.  Spencer gave her an apologetic look.

"Sorry, I don't shake hands." He said, smiling at her softly. JJ quickly shook Meredith's hand, giving her an apologetic look, knowing how rude it must have looked for Spencer not to shake her hand.

"Well, I'm an open book, what are your questions?" Meredith asked, knowing Cece had to be prepped for her Exploratory Laparotomy in a few short hours.

"Well-" they were cut off by Meredith's pager buzzing on the table,  she glanced at it, her eyes going wide as she read the screen. Meredith took off, leaving her things were they were.

"Dr.Grey!" JJ called after her, but no luck. You reached over to grab the pager, curious as to what made her run out of the room so quickly. "She got a 911 for our victim." You tell Spencer and JJ, quickly standing up and following Meredith to Paige's room. You weren't sure if they had followed you or not, but you needed to see what was going on.

"She's awake." You said, letting the breath you didn't know you were holding escape your lips. There was Paige, her young eyes darting around the room, taking in her surroundings.

"Hi Paige, how are you feeling?" Meredith asked gently, turning up the IV drip.

"My head hurts." She said weakly, coughing violently after.

Meredith took the young girl's hand in her own, sending her a smile. "You're so strong Paige, you really worried us there last night, but you're a fighter. Do you remember what happened at all?" Meredith asked softly, causing the girl to cringe slightly.

"No, but maybe I will r-remember after I-I rest." She said, her voice shaking slightly.

"No rush, whenever you remember it is fine. There is going to be another doctor named Dr.Grey taking care of you while I'm in surgery, but I'll come back and check on you right before and right after, okay?" Meredith said quietly, causing Paige to let nod gently as she let out a yawn.

Meredith met your eyes, a reassuring smile on her face as she let go of Paige's hand, coming out of her room in the ICU and over to you and your team.

"Sorry I ran out like that, but 911 is always an emergency." She explained, leading them back to the conference room.
