His (1) POV :

We were running non-stop. Only after some time, I realized the elders were not with us.

I knew they were the reason why I'm in this mess. But for some unknown reason, something inside me told me that they did it for a worthy cause.

I have never trusted my instincts. But when you feel like your time is up, we do things that we never had the nerve to do before. My father did that when he decided to leave me all on my own when he promised me that he will never leave. I called him, but he never looked back.

I suddenly halted. I looked over at the girl. It was like she was in deep thought, and when I stopped, she looked at me with questioning eyes.

"We have to find them," I said. She nodded. It was like she had the exact same thought.

We looked around and saw them going towards the sea. I didn't understand what they were doing. But the girl... She was smiling.

I feel like I'm going mad. Suddenly the woman started calling for help. I noticed the man who untied us were really standing really close to them. The elder was shouting at him. The other elder was slowly sinking.

I started to run towards them . But I was sure that I won't make it. A hand pulled me back. "It's meant to happen," the girl told me.

I don't understand any of this. Why is this meant to happen? Why should anyone die willingly? We escaped to survive. Not to die according to our will.

I feel like its happening all over again though I didn't know this man. But he was making the same choice as my dad. Why do people decide to take their lives?

Did he do all this, endangered four lives, just to die? Is he trying to escape all this?

For the first time, I lived in the present and ran towards them, with my injured leg, with all my might, leaving behind the girl. All I have learned from the past is that if you don't do what you want to do when it is supposed to be done, then there is no point in regretting. I have lived enough in the past. It is time to feel the present.
