Todoroki's face was making me worried. Worried to the point where I followed him so that I could ask him what was wrong. But with him currently standing across from Midoriya. It seemed like they were going to have a serious conversation, maybe I shouldn't listen.
But just as I was about to leave. Bakugou had stopped me.
"Move an inch and I'll kill you." Villain complex.
I do what he says without fighting back. For one, I was a bit curious about what they were going to talk about. Midoriya looked so scared standing in front of Todoroki
"I was overwhelmed. And it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago." Todoroki pulls out his left hand to examine it. "Yaoyorozu , Iida, Tokoyami and Uraraka. None of them could feel it. It was at that moment I was able to sense your true power. It reminded me of something. It reminded me of the time we saw All Might fighting."
"Oh, I see. Is that all?" Midoriya looked like he was about to pass out.
"Midoriya, tell me." The serious look on Todoroki's face looked like he had discovered something serious. "Are you All Might's secret love child or something?" Pfft.
No. This is too good. I think I'm going to die from those words and Todoroki's expression. Not to mention Midoriya's deadpan face.
"Well, are you?"
"What? No! No, I'm not. Not that I'd tell you if I was. But that's not the point. Why... why would you ask me something like that in the first place?
"What I meant is that there is something going on between you two that you aren't supposed to talk about." Todoroki stops for a moment. He looked lost. "You see my Father is the number 2 hero, Endeavor. You must have heard of him. Since you are connected to the number 1 Hero and I am connected to the number 2 hero. It means that I have an even bigger reason to beat you."
What is he going on about?
"My Father has always lived in the shadow of the number 1 hero, All Might. He's an ambitious man who would do whatever it took to get what he wanted."
"Um, Todoroki. I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at."
"Have you ever heard of quirk marriages? This became a huge problem in the beginning because people sought to make powerful quirks with their children. Many people were pushed into these marriages. My Father has a rich history of accomplishment and plenty of money. He bought my Mother's family so that he could get his hands on her quirk. And now he's using me to replace All Might." He pauses to look at his hands. "It's disgusting. I refuse to be a tool to that scumbag. And every memory of my mother was of her crying. She would always call my left side unbearable. Before she poured boiling water on my face."
He takes a deep breath. Recalling past memories.
"The reason I picked a fight with you was so that I could show him that I didn't need his damn fire quirk to win. You see I'm going to show him that I can take first place without him." Bakugou and I just stood there. Frozen. Neither of us said a word. But the tears building up around my eyes. It felt like they spoke for me.
Once they left I felt my legs crumble and I tried to keep my tears from falling out. Bakugou had already walked away.
Coming back from the bathroom, I had spent my time splashing water on my face, my eyes were still red. I felt like an awful person listening to his conversation when I had no right to.
"Have you been crying?" I froze. Looking up at the boy who I had been crying for. The reason my eyes were red and puffy.
"N- no!" I stutter fanning myself hoping that it would help my eyes. But I still felt guilty. "Hey, Todoroki. Can you sit with me for a bit?" I ask as I lean against the wall and slide down it.
