What They Saw

"ISSY!" Y/N laughed from the distance

"HI Y/N!" I smiled running up to them.

  The outside was icy cold, the doors slammed shut shielding the house from the wind that was swirling around in the sky, winter was different here, we barely went outside and most people would be in bed with headaches and colds.
  But winter never stopped us from seeing each other, Y/N was my best friend, they were brought here at the same time as me, just like me; we both don't remember anything about our past life, did we even have a past life? Or have we spent our lives here, living here for 12 years until we get shipped off.
  Wait that seems odd. We stay here for 12 years to get shipped off, but what is tha-

"ISABELLA COME HERE! C/N IS GETTING SHIPPED OFF TODAY!" Y/N grabbed me by my wrist and dragged me down the large grassy hills to get to where the entire house was waiting for us.

"You're late.." Mom whispered under her breath,

"But that's nothing to worry about, go stand next to Y/N" She exclaimed with a fake smile worn across her pale face.
  I shivered knowing that something was wrong, she never smiles like that.
  C/N then said their last goodbye to their friends in the house, as they ran back to mom, she looked behind her shoulder and poof. She disappeared into the darkness, behind the gate, the forbidden place.
  Running back into the house, I grabbed Y/N and told them that something is wrong.

  "What? What's wrong?" Y/N asked getting sweaty thinking something bad must have happened.

  "Wait, do you see that, its the spare key" I whispered.

  "Spare key for what? How do you know that." Y/N was full of questions to ask me.

  I didn't say anymore, I just grabbed them and dragged them to the key, I picked it up after putting a glove on incase mom found out.
  I then ran back outside with Y/N and hid behind the large oak tree.
  When mom came back from the gate, she had blood splattered on her black dress.
  Thats when it happened. Everyone went back into their rooms sobbing about their friend leaving.
  Y/N and I ran swiftly, trying to stay hidden. We then came across the large gate, turning the key, we heard a growl, there must be something behind there.
  Shaking, Y/N closed the door only a little (as it would be foolish to trap oneself in an unknown place).
  The growl got closer, until we caught a glimpse of a dark shadow and an eyeball rolled towards us. Fear crept onto me and strangled me with its arms.

"OMG." Y/N ran back to the gate, I followed in panic knowing that whats behind the gate is fear, terrible things that should be kept behind it.
I was so numb I could barely move, but Y/N pulled me towards the exit, knowing I was holding back the tears.
When we made it back to the house, it was already time to have dinner.

"Where were you two we were looking everywhere for you?" Mom asked starting to panic incase we had seen.

"Oh, we were outside, playing a very long game of hide and seek and we forgot what the time was!" I could barely keep it in, but I did it for the sake of both of us.
Walking to the dining room, we tried not to look behind us, as mom was right there.
I could feel her staring into my soul, I wanted to say something so bad, but I just couldn't, I was still traumatised from what we just came across.
Dinner wasn't any different, we ate slowly, keeping an eye on our food trying to not make any eye contact with mom.
Going to bed, we fell under the covers and let out our tears, was that really where you go when you get shipped off, does mom know, is that why there was blood on her dress.
I closed my eyes.
Regretting everything that I'd done.
