〖 Disappointments 〗
Kim magnates confirm daughter's take-over on family business following graduation.
No changes in Kim-Lee engagement and partnership despite Kim Saemi's memory loss, both families announce.
The Lees assure son is working harder for future marriage with fiancée Kim Saemi.
Saemi slightly rolls her eyes tiredly, unimpressed with the news headlines.
She thinks it's a bit disregarding that both her and Haechan's parents are confirming things on behalf of them.
If it was her, she would've told the press that she doesn't want to run their business, therefore she doesn't want to continue with the engagement.
But alas, that can't happen.
Like the news says, she's expected to continue these plans despite her current condition. And what's difficult is that she has to re-learn everything about the family business.
She has to put in five times the effort to be able to gain ten years worth of knowledge in under two years because she's going to take over their company, as well as getting married, in two years time.
It's been really stressful for her a lot lately.
And genuinely, she wishes to regain her memories.
She wishes she can recall every detail about herself or her life from the last ten years. She wishes she remembers turning twenty-one, and being engaged to Haechan.
But the ring around her finger looks unfamiliar. It's a little tight-not her size. And it feels uncomfortable.
Their company's office building looks new to her, as well as the people inside it. When she'd visited once, she felt evasive towards the employees.
"Miss Saemi, it's me! Don't you remember?"
"Welcome back, Miss Saemi! We can't wait for you to join us again!"
"Miss Saemi, good to have you back with us. We can now continue with the project that you left."
It makes her head ache.
She truly wishes she could just remember everything at once. Or at least, little by little.
But the memories just don't come back. They won't come back.
And every time people ask her if she remembers anything, she wishes they'd stop looking at her in pity, because the answer is no.
She wishes they'd just stop expecting her to be the "ever perfect Kim Saemi" again, because she can't be that person anymore.
That person is gone—has been for five months.
Sometimes, she wishes the accident had taken her life instead, not her memories. Sometimes, she wishes everything would just stop and be still.
No sound, no light, no color, no people, no her-nothing.
Just darkness.
