〖 In The Same Boat 〗
Saemi scrolls down her phone, wishing to see more contents. But no matter how many times she does, there's nothing new.
Haechan's social media profile has been the same as the last eleven months. His last post is a picture of Ttalgi in his hands, the very picture that is her phone wallpaper.
She knows he's active. He has an update on his story, but she doesn't check it. He might find out that she's looking at his profile, even if she's using a fake account.
It's tempting, however. Almost every other day, he has updates, and she thinks he must be living his best life now.
But she never dares to take a look, because she's afraid she won't like what she'll see.
She sighs heavily. She shouldn't be doing this.
She was doing great. It's been seven months since the last time she saw her ex-fiancé in person, and during those seven months, she wasn't stalking him. She didn't care about him.
But deep inside, she knows she does. She truly cares, still.
That's why when she stumbles upon a post from Renjun, where her ex-fiancé was smiling brightly and looking as handsome as ever, she can't help but fall into a relapse.
Haechan had never looked better in her eyes, and she regrets calling off the engagement. She thinks it's her worst mistake ever.
But what's done is done, and all she can do is admire from afar and regret her choices even more.
He's probably moved on already, and it makes her melancholic.
Saemi sadly scrolls down on her phone, looking at the same posts she's already looked at, then goes back to the top and repeats the action. It's become a bad habit.
She doesn't notice her boyfriend walking up to her on her seat at the restaurant she's waiting at.
"Hey, babe."
She's startled at Jaehyun's voice and quickly locks her phone, putting it on the table. She stands up to receive the kiss he gives her cheek, feeling a bit nervous.
"Hi, Jaehyun."
"Sorry I'm late, there'd been some problems at work." Jaehyun says, then presents her a bouquet of red roses. "But I got you these flowers. Happy birthday, babe."
"Thank you." She says with a small voice, staring at the red roses. "They're beautiful."
Jaehyun gives her a warm smile.
They both sit down and proceed to order from the waiter, then they talk for a bit while waiting for their food.
The ambience of the restaurant is nice, the instrumental music adding to the class of the place. As they eat and talk, Saemi tries to be happy on her 23rd birthday.
She and Jaehyun have been dating for three months now. When she moved to Japan back in January, she wasn't expecting for him to show up at the same area she's staying at.
They haven't seen each other since he graduated, but she was surprised to see him walking down the streets of Osaka one day back in March. She was glad to see him, at least there's one other familiar face she knows aside from her brother's friend.
