SUDDENLY JULIE RAN into the studio, holding a t-shirt. She explained that the song the band had been working on, might help get Flynn back on their side. She changed into the t-shirt she had been holding while the band set up. They ran through the song a few time in the thirty minuets they had and then there was a knock on the door and Julie opened it to find Flynn waiting.
"Thanks for coming." She smiled at her friend. "We just wanted to rehearse the song so it was perfect, which it's not, but whatever."
"No, if I'm gonna hear a song from your imaginary ghost band, I want it to be perfect. So, get back in there." Flynn pointed around Julie but none of the band was there, they were all inside and watching the two. "All of you. You too."
Julie chuckled. "They're not out here."
"Oh, I know." Flynn said, walking into the studio.
Julie closed the doors and faced the band. "Alright, guys. You ready?"
"Yep." Hayden smiled as the boys nodded.
"Could you ask Flynn to move." Reggie asked shyly. "I need a bit more space and its weird to walk through people."
Julie nodded. "Actually, can you go over there? Reggie needs some space to rock out, and he feels kinda weird walking through you."
Flynn laughed. "Boy, when you create a world, you really live in it."
"Just sit." Flynn finally agreed and sat down on a chair. "If you'll notice, there's no equipment that will produce a hologram. Feel free to look around." She walked over to the piano. "The band took a poem that I wrote about you and put it to music."
"Aww. I wish I didn't have to talk to your dad after this."
Julie chuckled, knowing she would win her friend over. "It's called Flying Solo." She began her beat and then her singing. "If I leave you on a bad note.
Leave you on a sad note.
Guess that means I'm buying lunch that day.
I know all your secrets.
You know all my deep-dish.
Guess that means some things they never, they never change...
We both know what I, what I, what I mean...
When I look at you it's like I'm looking at me."The band then appeared and Flynn gasped. "My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you
Hey! yeah-e-yeah
Hey! yeah-e-yeah
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you."Julie kneeled in front of her friend as she sang the second verse. "Yeah, you know who I'm likin'
Way before I liked them, duh...
Cause you liked them first
And if somebody hurts you
I'm gonna get hurt too
That's just how we work, yeah, that's just how we work
It will never."Once again, the band joined in. "Change...
We both know what I, what I, what I
Mean...
When I look at you it's like I'm looking at me
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you
Hey! yeah-e-yeah
Hey! yeah-e-yeah
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you."Hayden took the mic by the couch and watched as Julie led her around the room to meet each ghost. They stopped by Reggie who allowed Flynn to try and touch him.
"Weird, right?" He laughed at Flynn's reaction.
"They're ghosts!" She exclaimed, realizing her friend was not lying.
Alex smiled. "Oh, we prefer musician spirits."
Hayden looked at Julie. "So, princess, does this mean you're joining the band?"
Flynn nudged her friend at the nickname before placing her arm on her shoulder. "Actually I think you're joining her band."
"I'm gonna go with what she said."
The band broke into song once again. "My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you
Hey! yeah-e-yeah (yeah)
Hey! yeah-e-yeah
My life, my life would be real low, zero, flying solo without you... you..."The band smiled as Flynn and Julie rekindled their friendship. They ten disapeared and the two girls went inside to talk a bit more and allow Julie to explain how she even met the ghosts. The band chuckled and sat around for a few hours. It was a Friday and Julie was free the whole weekend, Hayden wondered if she would be able to write some songs with her this weekend.
Luke disapeared, the one band member knew where he was going. It seemed like even in death, old habits die hard. He was visiting his parents. When he was alive he would have to hide but now he was a ghost, he would sit in the house and watch his parents who often did nothing. Hayden found this out when she followed him once, he noticed her but instead of getting into an argument, he cried.
Luke always felt comfortable showing his emotions in front of Hayden and the band. He held her close and she rubbed his back as they stood in the living room of the Patterson house. Not long after, the two headed back to the studio. Luckily Reggie and Alex were asleep when they got back, the two went up to the roof of the studio and watched the stars in comfortable silence.
The boy had only been to his parents a couple of times, as had Hayden. Although her family still didn't accepted her being gay, she noticed small things they would do that showed they missed her. There was a third place set at the table, fresh flowers were always in her room and her mom would walk slowly when passing her bedroom but the door always stayed shut.
Her parents didn't change but they missed her and that was enough for Hayden. She loved her parents but she couldn't stand their beliefs. Luke had also followed Hayden to her home once but unlike him, she wasn't crying but just watching from the kitchen counter as her parents ate their dinner. He took a seat beside her and she rested her head on his shoulder.
The two didn't know that Reggie and Alex knew where they would sneak off to or if they had visited their family. Only Luke and Hayden knew where they were going.
