Betty's POV:

I pull up to Veronica's. I take a deep breath and step out. I look at her house, taking it all in like the first time. I feel the rain drop, it hits my face. I walk up to the door and have second thoughts. I push the door bell and it rings through the house. There's no going back now. I pace back and forward until the door opens.

"Betty, what a delightful surprise" Mrs.Lodge says with a smile on her face.
"Hi, Is Veronica home?"
"She is, I'm sure she'll be happy to see you. This house hasn't seen much of you Cooper" I smile at her and walk inside. We both walk into the living room and I sit down.

"I'll go get Veronica" Mrs.lodge says going upstairs. Everything feels different, unnatural, wrong.
"Betty" I hear from behind me.  I stand up and turn around.
"Veronica, I really need to-"
"Betty save it. I think you should leave" she says gesturing toward the door.
"Vee please let me explain" I plead
"Fine" she growls. She starts walking upstairs and I follow her. Once we are in her room, I start.

"Vee, I made a mistake"
"Yeah you did"
"Will you just let me talk" she roll her eyes and nods.
"I know what I did was wrong, I didn't mean too"
"You didn't mean to make out with my ex, not just once"
"Veronica, the truth is that I've loved him since middle school. I don't know maybe even before then. When you and him started dating, I was beyond jealous but I really tried to not be. I did but I just couldn't shake it. After y'all broke up, I knew I could never have him. But part of me still wanted him. Then I when Toni was about to go in, I stepped in so she wouldn't make a mistake. I truly just went it to tell him Toni wasn't coming"
"And?" She snaps
"But the he kissed me, of course I knew it was wrong but it was like i wasn't me anymore. I'm so so sorry, if I could go back and change things. I would, your my best friend. I would have never made it through these past 2 years without you. You gotta know that"
"But the time after Betty, why?"
"I-I don't know"
"That's not good enough"
"Veronica I-"
"I've heard your excuses. I think you should leave" she says pointing at the door.
"But-"
"Go please" she says tears filling her eyes.

I don't stay another word, I grab my bag and jackets I run downstairs and right out the door. Once I'm in my car, I break down again. Veronica right, that's not an explanation. All I gave was excuses, it's nothing good enough.
