This was the first time someone has ever made me feel this way. This was just one of many that I do not understand.
"You're still smiling, kid," Raven says as she stops walking in front of a house. We weren't right in front of it per se, but we still stood in front of the building, on the concrete sidewalk.
Raven tilted her head at me; a gesture I returned just the same. Was it bad to keep smiling like this? I never thought it to be a bad thing. I hadn't even so much as considered it until now...
Raven sighed at that and shook her head. "Whatever, you really are an odd kid..." she says, her voice trailing off at that. I bit my lip at that before hesitantly putting my hands up, as if about to say something, but I almost immediately put them back down.
Raven noticed and slid her hands in her pockets. "Kid..." she starts before simply shaking her head, only contributing to the awkwardness I now felt. She simply placed a hand in my hair and sighed.
"This is where Faron wants to meet you," she says, gesturing towards the house we stood in front of. I gave a small nod and moved out of her reach.
I swear for a split second-
I shook my head at that and turned away from her, heading towards the house. I glanced back at Raven who seemed to be avoiding eye contact. Or, rather, she seemed to be avoiding looking at me entirely.
Unlike my previous assumptions on what type of house the problem student might've resided in, this was surprisingly normal. Well... not rich looking is more like it.
While this may've seemed like a more baseless theory, it isn't as such. Though I guess you could call me paranoid for judging this based off of her personality and looks alone.
Something that definitely bothered me was the fact that there was an absence of a vehicle in the driveway. Had there been a garage of sorts, I wouldn't be so on edge.
I looked back at Raven anxiously, suddenly worried again. However, it seemed that the p̶e̶r̶f̶e̶c̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶d̶a̶r̶k̶ ̶s̶k̶i̶n̶n̶e̶d̶ girl was distracted with something off in the distance.
I sighed at that and lightly knocked on the door before stepping back, looking around still. I had totally neglected to bring along my notebook and pen, which was yet another matter I was worried about.
Thankfully, it wasn't long before the door was opened slowly, revealing that deep ocean blue eyed girl. I failed to take note of it before, but now that I'm looking at it, her hair had quite a few curls in them.
She tossed something that she was holding behind the door which hit something hard. I flinched at that and noticed that I hadn't heard whatever it was hit the floor.
"I really was not expecting this," Faron tells me, leaning against the doorway. "But I guess you're here because Raven is refusing to tell the truth?" Faron asked rather than said.
I nodded once before looking back at Raven, whose gaze now met mine. I looked at Faron and bit my lip. How do I converse with her without my notebook...
Faron sighed at that and looked past me at Raven. "Well, I can't really explain much without a translator," she tells me, as if reading my mind. If I remember correctly, she did indeed tell me that she didn't know sign language.
Now that I think about it, why was it that Raven knew sign language anyways?
I looked back at Raven again, who was now walking towards us, hands in her pockets. She had that sullen look again, which made me sigh in slight disappointment.
Faron yawned in what I guess was boredom and opened the door wider, gesturing for us to go in after her. Raven stepped in first while I followed her.
Faron stopped walking to pick something up. The sight made me move closer to Raven.
"Do you just leave that thing lying around," Raven asks with a sigh, clearly unfazed by the object. She seemed to be oddly familiar with the object, which only added to my growing unease.
"It's not like I've ever had to use it," Faron says with a shrug. "What about you?" She asks, looking back at Raven, who, in turn, looking down at the floor.
"Not since Aimi," Raven says, looking away. I noted her unease and let my hand lightly brush against hers. She glanced back at me before speaking up again. "I haven't so much as loaded a single bullet."
Faron placed the weapon on a small rounded glass table, it's only company being a vase of thorned roses. "Aimi... what was she, the fourth girl you slept with?" She asks with a grin, clearly unfazed by the name.
Not since Aimi?
Slept with?
I lightly pulled on the back of Raven's shirt and asked her in sign language, 'What did both of those mean?' As she spoke the words out slowly, her face seemed to grow red.
"D-don't worry about that," she told me in a stutter that I didn't think she could pull off.
Faron looked back at us and smirked before telling me what she meant by the "slept with" part. I couldn't help but let my face burn brightly at that. Raven didn't let her go long without shoving her into the wall beside the table.
"Ah!" Faron let out a pained sound before pushing off the wall. "What? She asked," she says, rubbing the arm that absorbed all the shock. "Besides..." she says, looking at the floor. "How am I supposed to say that she took her own life?"
Reality....
It's easy for one to forget the dark side of it.
