(Y/n)'s Pov

"Law, did we get everything on our list?" We'd been in the store for a while although I wasn't the one in charge of the list. "I believe so" The last thing I wanted to do was come back since we forgot something but Law was good when it came to making sure things were done right. There was just an item or two I wanted to double-check on. "Oh, did we get the backup fire extinguisher?" Our cart was quite full so I couldn't tell. "I got two to be on the safe side but you're not intending to have candles this year, right?" He should have known I wasn't that stupid. "Don't be silly. I got the cheap battery-powered ones but you know how Corazon can be. He creates fire out of nothing. Last week he set a pot of water on fire"

"I thought he wasn't allowed to touch the stove?" That was true although I wasn't sure how a person could light something on fire just by putting it down. "That's the thing Law. He put the pot on the burner and hadn't even turned it on. It just went up in flames" I could have carried on although someone behind us had finally decided to defend himself. "Will you two stop talking about me like I'm not even here? I'm not that bad"

"You're that bad Cora-san. If you weren't family, I'd be able to put all my children through college from just having you as a patient" There was a joke in there but I decided to tease Law a little bit. "What children would those be Law?" It could have been the store's cheap lightning although I swore his cheeks started to develop a light blush. "My hypothetical children" Law was too easy to tease so I continued. "Oh, does this include your hypothetical partner? Honestly, Law you're going to die alone at this rate. Get out there and meet someone"

"(Y/n)! You can't just tell Law he's going to die alone!" Corazon needed to lighten up. Law was a good man but honesty he needed to leave the nest sooner than later. "Why not? It's the truth and besides he's a grown man he can handle the truth" Law hadn't said anything about my teasing but Corazon was always babying him. "Would you like it if someone told you that?"

There was a part of me that could have kept my mouth shut but it had already been a long day. "Oh, I'm going to die alone. Don't you remember how much younger I am than you besides you're a walking disaster. On the plus side, I have a great life insurance policy for you so if anything happens to you, I'll be well taken care of" I'm not sure if Corazon thought I was serious although Law did lean in close to whisper into my ear. "(Y/n)-ya I don't think you should have been that blunt with him"

"Don't worry he'll live. Let's cash out I'm tired of being on my feet"

A Few Days Later...

It was Valentine's Day, but the night was already rocky. Mainly Corazon had already managed to set something on fire when I turned my back for less than two seconds. "Law!? Get your ass down here! He did it again!" The flames were already eating away at my cheap curtains but that was fine. I could easily replace them after without breaking the bank. "Why are y- Oh, stand back (Y/n)-ya!" Law quickly put out the flames although my eyes quickly went to the fire starter. "Corazon, you almost cost us my house!"

"Are you two going to be okay here alone for the night? I can cancel my plans if you need an extra set of eyes" That was a kind offer although I knew Law had plans on his own. For all I knew he had finally taken my advice and gotten himself a date. "No, you go out and have fun. We'll be okay" I thought we'd be fine but Law had doubt in his eyes. I couldn't blame the man since something bad always seemed to happen on this night. Well, accidents happened all year but Valentine's Day was special. Last year it was both arms broken and the year before the wine cork ordeal.

"Can I at least have some reassurance that the house will still be standing when I return?" That wasn't something I could give him. "Oh, my sweet Law. There is no promising anything when Corazon is involved" He nodded his head although still headed toward the front door. "Alright, I'm going but the fire department is on speed dial" I gave him a little wave. "Okay, see you later"

With the door shut I turned back to my partner. "So, my little firestarter, how will we spend our Valentine's Day?" We had all night and before I knew it Corazon had pulled me onto his lap. "I could think of a few things I could do to you... but you teased me all week. Let's watch a movie" I knew he'd change his tune later in the night. So, for now, I could play hard to get. "(Y/n), where are you going?" I settled on the opposite side of the couch and stuck my tongue out at him. "Watching a movie. What are you doing darling?"

"Right... What are you in the mood for?"

Later That Night...

Our night had gone well and currently, I was trying to get some rest laying on Corazon's chest. "Hey, (Y/n)?" He was poking at my cheek but I didn't bother opening my eyes. "What Corazon? I'm tired let me sleep" I thought he'd leave me be and yet he only continued to poke at me causing my eyes to pop open. "Do you smell something burning?" The moment he said that my blood went cold. "Oh, shit! I forgot about our dinner!" Rolling off his chest I nearly tripped trying to make a mad dash for the kitchen.

My feet had barely touched the kitchen tile before I called back to the man on the couch. "Corazon, call the fire department!" I knew the flames were too bad for a fire extinguisher to do the trick. So, before any of us could get hurt I ran back to Corazon before I pulled him toward the front door. There wasn't even time to put on our shoes although at least we were both out safely. "Are you okay (Y/n)?" Turning to face him I tried not to freak out. He was the one who started fires, not me. "Law, going to fucking kill me"

"Hey, don't worry he's a grown man he can take it" If our house wasn't burning to a crisp behind us, I would have slapped this man. This was no time for joking around. "Do I even need to ask Cora-san?" My soul nearly exited my body when I heard Law's voice although before I could even speak Corazon was already throwing me under the bus or that's what I thought he was doing. "Yeah, my bad. (Y/n) told me not to touch anything but I didn't listen to her" That wasn't what happened. I left the roast in the oven and forgot about it. This was my fault but Corazon took the blame. "Is that so? (Y/n)-ya, anything to add?"

"N-No, nothing to add" Law gave me a look although I couldn't be sure if he suspected I was lying or if it was from disappointment. "Right, you two stay here I'm going to speak with the person in charge" Once he had stepped away I turned to my partner before gripping his hand. "You didn't need to lie" I waited for him to reply. It took a while but once he did, I felt my anger bubble with each word. "Yeah, about that. I didn't lie. When you ran to the bathroom I went into the kitchen. I thought I was doing you a favor by turning off the oven but I might have turned the dial the wrong way"

At first, I thought I had misheard him. "You what?" He didn't repeat his words but slowly backed away from me. "(Y/n)?" He was a dead man. "Every fucking year! Come back here! No one burns down my house and gets away with it!"
