At Home

Philipp woke up to the face he thought belonged to a fairy queen. It was in fact the face of the woman he had spent the night with. A hell of a night with.

She was smiling. "I have to go home now."

She was still naked, under the blanket, her head on his arm.

"Why?"

"That blue dress is not for work."

"Oh, of course not. How late are we?"

"Not late at all."

He looked at his bedside clock, exhaled with relief, and then turned to her. "I don't want to go anywhere from this bed," he said, knowing he sounded perhaps too romantic but didn't care.

"You think I do?" she placed a hand on his chest in order to support herself and move her face closer to him.

He caught her by the waist under the blanket. "Now I feel bad that I let us fall asleep."

"Don't. It was only for three hours. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to survive the day," she was already placing herself on top of him, and he sighed in amazement how well she knew what his body wanted.

When they sat in the car, he knew he had to bring up the topic as soon as possible, so that they were both on the same page. He was driving her home, and that could cause trouble if Ana or Arnold saw her leaving his car. "Tell me whatever you want to do regarding your parents."

She took a deep breath and exhaled the way people do when they are faced with a difficult problem. "I don't know, Philipp. What do you think?"

"You want my most honest opinion?" She nodded. "But you have to promise me you won't get some crazy female ideas in your head. It's only what I believe is best."

"Shoot."

"It's better to keep it away from them for now. Not because of me, or you, but because it's the best for them."

She was silent for a minute, contemplating what he said, and then agreed: "Yes, for now, let's not mention anything to them."

She sneaked into the house hoping that no one would see her, but Ana was coming down the stairs, ready to leave for university. Heidi stood in front of her with the face expression she had used to have when she was little and they caught her redhanded stealing sweets – she wore a naughty smile.

"I can see somebody's had a great night," Ana said teasing.

"I have," Heidi winked. She always talked to her mother about these things. It slightly saddened her that this time she couldn't share with her how happy she was.

Ana looked at her questioningly, but Heidi still only smiled. "I'd love to hear about it," Ana said excited. "When you're ready," she added.

"Of course. When I'm ready," Heidi replied.

Ana kissed her on the cheek and left. Heidi ran upstairs to her room to give herself ten minutes of rewinding everything that had happened over the night. And the biggest part of the morning, and couldn't help screaming with joy into the mass of cushions she had thrown herself in.

Not even twenty minutes into the first training, and some five jokes later coming from his coach, Luka Zimmermann couldn't refrain from saying: "Somebody's had a great night!" to which all the guys on the team laughed.

Knowing very well there was no point trying to conceal it, Philipp laughed and kicked the nearest ball at him: "Do you still want to play on Saturday?"
