Y/n's POV "Are we almost there?", I ask Vinnie. We are on our way to his surprise date. I don't normally like surprises but his effort to keep where we're going hidden was really cute to me. He finally stops the car and I look up to see our destination. A cementary? Although he couldn't read my mind he could definitely read my puzzled expression.
"Vin, what's this?"
He looks at me then carries his attention back to the cemetery.
"I want to show you something."
I follow him out the car and around the cemetery still confused as to what he wants to show me. We finally stop in front of one of the gravesites. I look at Vinnie and he begins to explain.
"This is my brother. He died many years ago. It changed a lot for me. I truly loved my brother although he was mortal and he died while I lived on for many years."
He then turns to me.
"Ive also had this ending in terms of romance. I've had many wives but their mortality always came in the way. I want you to know what it means for me to love you. It means I have to risk the pain of knowing I'm going to lose you one day. Then when the day comes it means I have to cope with you being gone."
I've honestly never thought about how being immortal would affect his life other than him living forever. Now that he's mentioned it its really sad how he has to live on while everyone else dies.
I let out a sigh. "Im really sorry about that" I come up to him closing the space between us with a hug. He hugs me back as I listen to his breathing.
" I feel like it's too soon for us to be talking about this, although I like you a lot I don't know what's in store for us in the future, let's not worry ok?"
He sighs and nods his head in response. " You're right."
Maddy's Pov I've had enough. My plan is going to shit. Kio doesn't want to learn how to feed so he's weak and he's my responsibility like I've adopted him. I can't keep giving him my blood if he doesn't comply with me. Although I've asked nicely and been harsh nothing seems to be working. And I can feel y/n and Vinnie becoming closer and closer. Kio really left me without a choice.
I close my car door and fix my hair before walking into the police station. I opened the door and the smell of coffee and donuts embraced me. I was then greeted by the old woman at her desk. She drank her coffee before setting the glass down and giving me her attention.
"How can I help you?," she asked me sounding slightly annoyed. I definitely don't miss working a job. I cleared my throat before replying.
"Id like to inform you all that I found Kio Cyr."
An expression of shock appeared on her face.
"You found him?"
"Yes, and heres proof", I said showing her a picture of him I had recently taken. " I was providing him food shelter. He told me he ran away from home and would do anything to stay away, but there's only so much I can legally do for him."
She looked at the picture then back to me. " So you have him at your house?"
"Yes, you can get him tonight, and you can thank me, you guys were doing quite a lousy job looking for him if he was right in your faces."
The woman was appalled by my blatant honesty.
"Well, Thank you ma'am", she said with an attitude.
I chucked. "Hmm, well I just don't feel like that was sincere, and Im sure your manager would hate to know that your team has been dismissing cases with missing children since 2014. Also a simple thank you wasnt quite what I had In mind." I replied as she look at me with a combination of shock and awe.
Vinnies Pov
I truly enjoyed myself with y/n today. After we left the cemetery we went out to her favorite restaurant, Olive Garden, then we talked in the car for a couple hours just enjoying each other's company. I eventually took her home. When I got home I couldn't help but notice my house was quite unorganized. The tv had also been left on the news channel but a little background noise didn't bother me. Was better than the silence of being completely alone. I began to clean my house as the tv played in the background.
With two more people being found dead as a response to an animal attack, that makes three in the course of this month. Rockel Mays and Sherman Donovan have been found dead with mauling and some missing organs and tissues implying they were eaten. Anyways enough bad news I actually have some good news today as well. 18 year old Kio Cyr who was reported missing his been found by Maddy Crum. He apparently ran away from home and has been living with her since. I'm just glad he's safe and the parents have clarity- What? The Kio I murdered in cold blood? I don't know what Maddy did, but it can't be anything good.
