I wake up to see Alex stroking my hair as I look up at him with a smile and he smiles back.

"Good morning" he says

"Good morning and Merry Christmas" I say as I sit up in bed.

"Merry Christmas" he says as he kisses my cheek.

We sit in silence for a few minutes with our arms around each other.

"Do you have anything planned for today?" I ask him.

"Just a meeting which would hopefully be quick" he says as I nod.

Tonight will be the anual Christmass Ball. Alex and I decided to stay here in Othilia for chistmas this year.

We also had to stay because Alex had to be present due to the visit of another kingdom.

My family, Sophia, Maddie and Margaret arrived here a few days ago.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

Alex starts to get up and get ready as he enters the bathroom.

While waiting I decided to watch TV for a while and see what are the new or current happening around the world.

After Alex finishes I grab my stuff and walk in towards the bathroom to get ready for the day.

I exit the bathroom after a few minutes to see Alex seated on the couch.

"Shall we go to breakfast?" He asks as I nod and we exit the room and walk towards the Dining Hall.

We enter and spot a few already seated around the table.

Edward at the head of the table with Victoria at his right and Alex at his left. I am seated beside Alex and beside me is Sophia followed by Maddie and then Margaret. While beside Victoria is my mom followed by dad, Abby and Aaron.

We all had our breakfast while we converse with one another.

The girls and I will have to get ready in a few hours and once again Victoria hired some people to help us out.

After we had breakfast my friends and I decides to just chill. We went to Alex and I's room and just stayed there since Alex has a meeting and he wouldn't be there yet.

We were all over the room with me and Margaret on the bed and somehow Sophia made it to the floor and Maddie made it to the couch. Note we were all seated on the bed at the beginning.

.....A Few Hours Later.....

After our chill time we started getting ready in our respective rooms.

While I was getting ready I heard the door open and close. A few seconds later Alex appears.

"How was the meeting?" I ask

"Same thing as usual" he says sitting down near me.

"Don't you have to get ready?" I ask

"I do, but I wanted to rest for a few minutes first" he says as I nod

.....A Few Hours Later.....

I am finally finished and I am ready for the ball.

I am wearing a Navy Blue off shoulder gown with a bit of lace on my arms along with black heels, simple make-up abd my hair placed in a bun.

Alex exits the bathroom in his uniform and I approach him.

"You look very handsome in your uniform, my love"

"Thank you, but you look exquisite in that gown" he says as I blush before responding 'thank you'

We check ourselves in the mirror and after we do we start to walk towards the ballroom.

My family and friends are already inside waiting for us.

We enter and everyone bows and curtsys as we are announced.

After us Victoria and Edward start to enter and we all bow and curtsy including Alex and myself.

.....A Few Minutes Later.....

We were conversing with so much people around the room as I get introduced to other people.

Alex never left my side until I was with my friends. While he goes to talk to some people.

Suddenly the song we first danced to played and people started to walk over to dance.

"Can I have this dance?" I turn around to see Alex offering me his hand as I accept and we walk to the center and we start to dance.

We just stare at each other during the dance and we forget everything around us. The only thing we were focused at is each other.

After the dance I noticed that everyone had their eyes watching us before I get to say or move Alex goes down on one knee and I gasp in surprise.

"Amelia, I have loved you since we met that day, right here in this palace. Since then you agreed to date me and be my girlfriend. We passed a lot of challenges in life that made us think if we were even possible to be together but slowly we got to overcome these bumps along the road. I cannot promise you a lifetime without any problems but I can promise you that we will solve these problems together as one and I promise to love and cherish you for the rest of my life, Amelia Grace Peterson will you marry me?" He says and by the end I didn't even notice I was crying.

"Yes, yes, a hundred times yes" I say as everyone laughs and he places the ring on my finger and stands up and we both kiss not caring about the hundreds of people watching us.

Victoria and Edward approach us and congratulate us first followed by my family and friends after that people started coming up to us and congratulating us as we thank each of them.

-----Natalie's POV-----

I watch from a distance as my Alex proposes to Amelia and she accepts.

That should've been me.

I watch some more as people start to crowd around them with their congratulations.

I kept on watching until I couldn't take it anymore and I decided to leave.

I will get you back Alex and this time nothing can stop me.

Be prepared Amelia, I'm coming

-----Amelia's POV-----

After a few hours more we finally made it to our room exhausted from the party. Alex and I talk until he falls asleep and I stare at my ring for a while

Who would've ever thought that one summer vacation would change my life so much. It's the summer vacation I would cherish forever because I got to meet the love of my life. Alex was right, we faced many challenges and we faced them together as a couple because of our love for one another.

When I started this story I didn't think I'd get a lot of reads but it surprises me so much that as of today February 4, 2021 the book has reached 1.79k and I am very thankful for that. I only expected it to get a few reads but it became more than just a few reads. I hope this serves as inspiration to other writers who want to publish a book to go and achieve your dreams. You wouldn't know the outcome until you try to achieve it.
