Luke often went on long walks down by the beach. It's almost impossible to take in the sunset, the warm sand and the rest of the beautiful things when youre there. Today Luke wasn't alone though. As he was walking Luke noticed his ex-best friend about 16 yards away. Apparently Nick noticed him too,
"Hey Luke!"
"Hey!!!!"
"Where have you been?"
You see Luke has been in the hospital pretty much everyday since he was diagnosed. He has only been out for now 2 months. To him that's a lot. Luke considers Nick his ex- best friend because even though Nick is the closest person he had to a friend, he hasn't seen him in 3 years. It wasn't Nick's fault though. You see, Nick tried to come to the hospital but nobody but family was allowed. So even though Luke always us got a message from Nick he didn't see him. " In and out of hospitals, but I got all of your messages. Thanks man."
" No problem, I'm just glad tour better...... so now that your better, you wanna come play football with me?"
"I haven't played football in 3 years and now you want me to come play?"
" Why not you seem just as healthy as you did back in high-school. Besides you need some fun!"
" OK. When are we gonna have this playdate?"
"Now I definitely know you're better, your sense of humor is back."
" How do you know it never went away?"
" Good question, and tomorrow at my house. OK?"
" Sounds great!"
"See you tomorrow then." Nick said as he walked towards his house. What Nick didn't notice though was that Luke was really scared. A rush of thoughts raced though his mind.
What if I'm not good?
What if people laugh at me?
He was still thinking these thoughts as he went to bed that night.
