THE PRESENT - HEIST D DAY, FIRDAY, 8:35 AM

So this was us now. The nine of us sitting it the back of a stuffy van, shoulder to shoulder, about to begin the biggest heist in the history of heists.

No pressure.

The silence breaks when Rio takes off his masks, sitting in between Denver and I. "Who decided on these?" He asks no one in particular.

"What wrong with the masks?" Berlin counter asks.

"Well...they're not scary. In every movie, the robbers wear scary masks. Zombies, skeletons, maybe even the grim reaper-"

Rio is cut off when Berlin suddenly aims his gun directly in the centre of his forehead. "I assure you that a psychopath with a gun is a lot scarier than a skeleton."

"That's enough," Moscow said, breaking off a potential problem.

"Who's the hick with the moustache?" Denver asks, breaking the thick tension.

"Dali, son. A Spanish painter. A very good one." Moscow informs him.

"A painter."

"Yes."

"A painter who like...paints," at this point I look over to Nairobi with a look saying 'seriously', but she only shrugs, not really paying attention.

"Yes."

Denver only nods while Rio scoffs lightly.

"You know what's really fucking scary?" Denver asks, clearly making this conversation longer than it had to be. "Children's cartoon. Those are pretty scary."

"What cartoons?" Berlin asks, joining in the conversation in a more calm manner.

"Goofy, Pluto, Micky Mouse, all those guys."

"A mouse with big ears is scarier, seriously?" I ask, joining in.

"Yes, asshole. You wanna get punch in the face" Denver says pointedly to me but I only laugh under my breath knowing that he wouldn't really, and lean back into my seat.

"Hey," Moscow interrupts in a warning tone.

"I'm right. Listen..." Denver continues, ready to defend himself but at this points I wasn't even listening to the pointless argument.

They keep going while Tokyo, Nairobi and I just look at each other while trying to hold in our laughs.

Shit. I knew from the start that there was way too much testosterone in this group.

We suddenly stop so Moscow can get out of the van before we start to drive once again.

When we finally pull over, we all file out of the van and start to prepare. At this moment I started to think of all the innocent lives that were about to change. Guilt started to take over me but I remembered that we weren't hurting anyone...just temporarily putting their lives on hold.

As I look over at Rio, he shows me an encouraging smile which I return before we both put our masks back on.

9:25 AM

I sat with Rio as he worked on his computer, watching the vehicles go by.

I look over at him. "Is it done?"

"Do you doubt me?" Rio asks, pretending to me offended while putting a hand over his heart.

"Shut up," I roll my eyes and nudge him before be both reposition our masks a leave our posts near the road.
