Chapter Five

Aria stood behind the counter and let out a deep breath before continuing to make some pasta for her and Ezra. She had been feeling a little woozy upon waking up but tried not to let it bother her too much. All Aria had to do was take it slow and she'd feel fine.

About fifteen minutes later, Ezra and Aria were enjoying the pasta Aria made while Katherine laid in her bouncer right beside them. They ate in a comfortable silence with the occasional babble or squeal from Katherine. A couple minutes later, Ella showed up to take Katherine with her and give Ezra and Aria a day to themselves. She figured they wanted a day alone without having to take care of a baby and she was right.

Once they finished, Ezra got up and started to wash the dishes. Aria was going to help, but she had to sit there for a moment first. She got that woozy feeling again, but it felt more powerful than before.

Aria had a sudden urge to go to the bathroom, so she did. In the bathroom, Aria felt something weird. She noticed blood. Her heart sank as she realized this must've been her late period coming in and an indicator that she is in fact not pregnant.

Very heartbroken, Aria got up and was about to leave the bathroom when she suddenly felt like she couldn't see anything. Aria tried to call out Ezra's name, but all that came out was "E-Ez-" And everything went black as Aria fell to the floor.

Ezra heard as thud while putting away everything from the lunch he and Aria had earlier.

"Aria?" he called out. No response. "Aria?" he called out again, with concern growing in his voice. No response. He set the plate and dish towel down on the counter and began to go upstairs to see what that loud thud was and what was up with Aria.

As he reached the top step, Ezra saw something peculiar on the ground. He got closer and realized that it was Aria's hand.

"Oh my god! Aria!" yelled Ezra and he got down on the floor and picked Aria up. "Aria? Can you hear me?" He was about to reach into his pocket for his phone, but instead, he bolted out the door with Aria in his arms. He drove off to the hospital hoping this incident wasn't anything too serious. Ezra noticed a small blood stain on Aria's pants and grew more concerned.

Ezra rushed into the hospital and got Aria admitted as fast as he could. "Please help me! My wife! I- She- She was passed out on the floor when I found her. I don't know what's going on!"

A handful of nurses and doctors ran towards Ezra and Aria. After saying a bunch of medical terms Ezra didn't quite understand, they took Aria away and told Ezra to sit in the waiting room.

As time passed Ezra continued to let out exasperated sighs. Why wasn't anyone telling him what was going on? Afterall, that was his wife in some room. All he hoped was that it was nothing serious. He couldn't lose Aria... he couldn't lose her.

After what seemed like an eternity, one of the nurses approached Ezra and told him Aria was awake and doing well and he was allowed to be with her. A huge weight was lifted off Ezra's shoulders when he heard she was okay, but some weight remained. He had a feeling there was more going on than they were telling him.

As soon as Aria noticed Ezra walking in a smile formed on her face. "Hey," she said as he approached her. There were all sorts of machines beeping around Aria who was connected to an IV bag. Aria extended her hand out for Ezra to hold. "Hey, how are you feeling?" asked Ezra while holding her hand.

"I feel fine. I didn't even realize I wasn't feeling fine before," said Aria. As soon as she finished that sentence, she remembered the unfortunate news she was going to tell Ezra before she passed out.
