Chapter Four

Aria turned over to lay on her side and caught a glimpse of what time it was. 3:27 A.M. and she couldn't fall asleep. Ezra laid awake on his back, also unable to sleep. With all that happened earlier that day, it was no surprise neither one of them could fall asleep.

Aria moved her hand around a little until she felt something warm and familiar, Ezra's hand. They interlocked their fingers and laid there holding hands for a moment.

"Can't sleep?" asked Ezra, breaking the moment of silence.

"Nope."

"Me neither."

They both turned to face each other. They looked into each other's eyes as the glistening moonlight peeked through their windows and onto their faces.

"Ezra, what are we gonna do?" asked Aria.

Confused, Ezra asked "What do you mean?"

"What if I am pregnant?"

Ezra scooted closer to Aria, took her hands in his and said "Then we're going to have this beautiful miracle baby."

A small smile appeared on Aria's face as Ezra affirmed his love for the baby she may or may not be carrying. That smile quickly faded as Aria asked "And what if I'm not? Am I just getting my hopes up again?"

She also didn't want Ezra to get his hopes up. She didn't want to relive that pain she felt years ago when she truly believed she was pregnant. It was that very moment that stopped her from fully believing she could actually be pregnant this time. She didn't want him to feel that pain either.

"Whether you are or you aren't, I will love you and Katherine unconditionally. And if you are pregnant, I will love this baby just as much."

"Oh my god. Katherine! How- how's she gonna feel about this when she's older? How's she gonna feel being adopted and possibly having a sibling that came from us? Will she hold a grudge against us or the baby if I'm pregnant? She's still so young and requires a lot of attention. How could I not think of her in the midst of all of this?" Aria rambled as she ran her hand through her hair with a visibly worried look on her face.

"Aria," said Ezra, very gently, "We'll get through whatever may happen. Together," he gave her a smile that provided Aria with more reassurance than anyone else could with those few simple words.

Aria leaned in and gave Ezra a gentle yet passionate kiss. He gladly reciprocated that kiss. After a few minutes, they broke apart and laid there, staring into each other's eyes. Aria ran her fingers through Ezra's dark curly hair, taking notice of the few grey hairs that began to emerge. Seeing those grey hairs made her think about how much they've grown through the years, physically and emotionally. It made Aria want to do a little something with Ezra, but now wasn't the time. It was that exact feeling that got them into the situation they were currently in.
